Rondo's Triple Double's are great but...

Does he really have to start taking rebounds away from Perkins? There were a couple times in Game 2 where he clearly stole a rebound that should have been the big man's and a couple of those times, that caused a bobble with the ball.  Didn't happen this game but fighting over rebounds is the type of thing that leads to turnovers. 

Note: I found myself hoping Rondo would steal even more rebounds from Perkins just to get to the averaging a triple double for the playoffs, so I'm still all for it.

I don't think it's his intent to steal rebounds from Perk, but rather just to get rebounds.  I think this is Rondo realizing that the team has a rebounding deficiency without KG and Powe and doing his best to fill in the gap.

I understand your worry, but I'd rather have the odd rare turnover because we fight for the ball and knock it out of bounds, rather than the more frequent Dwight dunk because we don't have enough people on the boards.

The last thing I'm going to do is criticize a 6'1" PG for being aggressive on the defensive rebounding end and in the process average 10 RPG over 9 playoff games. I think to do so is absurd.

If team chemistry were an issue I'd be worried if players were "stealing" rebounds but I don't think Perkins cares who gets credited for it.

Again, I was rooting for Rondo's efforts as much as anyone else; don't get me wrong.

Not really a chemistry issue for me.  Just a risk of turning the ball over cause two guys are "fighting" for the ball on the same team.

Seriously, no intent to criticize Rondo, I just saw the ball batted a couple times and it got me thinking.

And @guachi, it only leads to fast breaks when its on a long rebound off a three.  The couple instances I was referring to were where all of the Magic players gave up on the play and were already across half court.

In all honesty, I think it probably reduces the chance of turnovers, seeing as there is no need to outlet pass (not that I don't trust Perk with that duty). It probably also speeds up the offense as guachi said.

Meh, our bigs sans-Garnett are no big deal doing the outlet pass, so it's probably for the best.

And if you thing Rondo steals too many rebounds, you must watch Troy Murphy playing. It's almost bizarre (and there's certainly an incentive in his contract re: rebounding numbers, it's the only explanation).

in all seriousness though, i think it was less of a "i want my stats!" thing and more of a "give me the darn ball so i can run !!" thing.

I like rondo out and running better than walking it up, so im all for it.
