yesss, Im pretty sure Alston won't play nice game, he has to be suspended for the slap he threw.
on other topic, Rondo is the best point guard in the nba hands down.

There's no way he won't be suspended for that.  Stupid move on his part.  Great news for us.

I think he will get a game. the league office has been pretty clear that if you take a swing of anykind outside of the course of a basketball play specificly to provoke a situation, your gone.

If he had been tossed, he might be safe (ala D-12 in philly) but that was a blatant attempt to start a fight.

I fully expect him to get a game for a strike to a players head and attempt to start an altercation.

front office has been pretty clear on that since the palace fght, and the fact that he waited till eddie turned around won't help his case.

  • The good ole days.
I was pretty surprised Rondo didn't get a suspension for the elbow he half-threw at Hinrich's head... so I am pretty stumped on what will happen to Alston.

I don't think Rafer would have gotten a suspension if he was ejected then and there ... but the refs missing it ... increases the possibility of him getting a suspension.

I didn't see it... but from the way people have described it, it sounded like a slap in passing?  I don't know if that would qualify as a "punching" foul or any of those others.

If a punch -- whether or not contact is made -- is an ejection, and an elbow to the head is an ejection, I can't possibly imagine how a slap is anything other than an automatic ejection / suspension.

I don't think he gets suspended for that slap. But with the way the refs have been, as well as the league, who knows?  I would be surprised if he gets suspended.

It leaves room for interpretation is all I'm saying... a slap is not a punch or an elbow.  Maybe he should be ejected/suspended for it, but the way I picture it from what I've read, it would not qualify as a punch or elbow in my mind.  A slap doesn't really  come with any intent to injure... it's more of a statement of disrespect or frustration.  A closed-fisted punch or elbow to the head is legitimately trying to hurt someone or start a fight.

if you don't suspend him, you contradicte a message you just went out of your way to send on howard to show the NBA players that any provocative blow to the head is a considered a punch.

I will bet you 10 TP's he's gone for next game.

Yes, there's room for interpretation, but it's hard to argue with somebody who hasn't seen the play.  It wasn't a gentle love tap; the slap knocked Eddie's head band out of place, and certainly jolted him.

that entire paragraph is well thought out, and exactly why he's going to get suspended. The league office is still terified of the palace incident, and they will suspend him for the very reasons you pointed out, that its currently open to discussion.

Soon, (in about 24 hours) it won't be, and the standred will be set.
