Dwight Howard's uncalled goaltending

Sorry if this has been addressed.  It is the end of semester and I'm averaging grades for nine classes.  Was it just me, or were two of Superman's blocks clear uncalled goaltends??  They sure called those on Patrick Ewing in the playoffs years ago!!  Why does Dwight get by with them now?  Was there a rule change that I missed that allows you to now block shots on their way down???

There was one in the second half against Pierce, I think, that was really close and might have been a goal tend but I don't remember the others as being questionable.

I don't remember any such goaltends, but his in your face blocks are really stupid.  Remember the Ray Allen shot he blocked into the stands in the first quarter.  That hurt the C's so bad that they inbounded it for a 3.  Nice play Dwight.  He needs to go to the Bill Russell school of shot blocking - one where you actually give your team a chance to get the ball.

I do remember two plays that looked to be questionable.  The one on Ray Allen could've been one, but the more obvious was a lay up that I thought it looked to be going down.  However, there was no replay but it def looked questionable to me.

To be fair to Dwight, he was facing the baseline. I'd be utterly impressed to see him turn in mid air and swat it down the court.

Guys, Dwight Howard is an amazing shot blocker. I have never seen anyone who is capable of blocking almost any shot at its apex. He is a most gifted athlete.

  Really. I haven't seen anyone who could block shots like that since the Bulls series.

There was one he had I beleive on rondo. The ball clearly hit its apex, but of course no call.

Two interesting things to consider

Can Perk's hook shot be legally blocked?  It essentially leaves his hand and is on a downward trajectory... (Pierce's shot looked a lot like that too)

and if a dunk is blocked, isn't that technically goaltending? Or does the ball have to leave your hand again....

I hate how his teammates will whack Ray/Pierce and then he'll make a clean block and play and there is no call. Happens way too often as the officials are just watching Howard.

One of his blocks should have been called goaltending.  The refs seem to give him the benefit of the doubt due to his athleticism.  I mean, Superman can legally block a 3 pointer from in the paint, right?

What I really liked was seeing Perk stuff Howard a couple times.
