I'm confused.  Why can't we keep Powe's roster spot, and replace Mikki with a legit player?  There's plenty of opportunity to keep Powe and sign another big man.  Unless, of course, people hate the thought of seeing Sir Fouls-A-Lot leave.

Cut Pruitt.  Sign a big man, a wing, and a PG (Starbury or somebody else).  That's the blueprint for the off-season (along with shopping Tony and potentially Giddens).

Right on the money, but with the following question: do you think McDyess and BBD replicate each other's skills too much? Might the Cs be better served with a more traditional center who plays close to the basket?

Yes, but who's that guy?

Centers: Zaza, Rasho, Birdman... I realize some will be more expensive than others.

Agreed.

I have no doubt Tony will be shopped, but I wonder if it might be smarter to wait until the trade deadline, as there will be some teams who are out of the playoff hunt looking to dump salary.  Tony, Scal, House and anyone else the Cs have on a one or two year deal could be enticing at that point.

Exactly.  Unless the prognosis for Powe is worse than expected (as in they do not expect a full recovery at some point next season), then they should be looking to sign him to a team friendly contract that gives the C's an option year or two at short money.

There is plenty of room on this roster for that.  They replace Mikki with a better big man (ideally a major upgrade like Wallace, Zaza, Mcdyess, or Smith, since they can't count on Powe next year), use Marbury's spot for a backup PG (even if it is Marbury), and use Pruitt's spot for a backup wing.  It fits well.

I really hope they do everything they can to get rid of Tony Allen as well.  But that is not a priority.

IMO Powe should be re-signed. He is a valuable player available for cheap. I would not care about his roster spot. Big Baby needs to be signed too and I would go for a "minimum" Marbury for the back-up PG.

If House also stays I would focus on getting a strong SF able to play the PF too. Is there any option that we can get Marion with the MLE? If not, I would trade for Nocioni.

Pachulia, Nesterovic or Battie all seem good enough for the C back-up. I dont see anything more appealing.
