And I'm sure I'm not alone.  Anyone catch his post game conference where he mocks one of the Sixers who said missing Howard would be huge?  Just too smug for my taste.  And talking *#*%* after the series is over is cowardly.  We need to get ready for a bunch of this throughout the series (and you thought you hated Noah).  Can't wait.

He's a complete idiot. I liked what I saw from him as a coach, but after hearing some of his press conferences in the last two years, man he's a real imbecil and hypocrite.

Ron Jeremy needs to be ready for a lot of frustration if the C's play defense the way we are capable.  If Perk keeps up his defensive ways and stays somewhat out of foul trouble, Ron Jeremy might need to brace himself for a few facials via The Beast.   ;)

Here is another reason...

Magic's Van Gundy wrong to minimize Celtics' mystique
posted by Mike Bianchi on May 4, 2009 7:05:24 AM

Will the mystique of Red Auerbach's victory cigar,

go up in smoke against the Orlando Magic?

I couldn't more vociferously disagree with Orlando Magic coach Stan Van Gundy, who wrongly claims there's really nothing to the mystique of the Boston Celtics -- the most storied franchise in the history of the NBA.

"For opposing players now, I don't think the Celtic mystique carries much sway," Van Gundy said before his team left for Boston Sunday. "That's something guys our age (49) are aware of, but when these players grew up, the Celtics weren't the Celtics. They weren't Red Auerbach's Celtics, or even Larry Bird's Celtics. Our guys didn't grow up thinking the Celtics were anything above the rest of the league."

Really?

Obviously Van Gundy hasn't spent much time talking to his players. If you read my column in today's Sentinel, you'll see that many Magic players are ultra-aware of the Celtics' history and tradition. In fact, to a man, all the Magic players I talked to said they were rooting for the Celtics to beat the Bulls in Game 7 of a first-round playoff series Saturday because they wanted a chance to face the defending champions with all of their history and heritage.

Rashard Lewis: "It's just the whole aura and atmosphere of playing the Boston Celtics. That name inspires you to bring your A-game."

J.J. Redick: "I was hoping Boston would win (beat the Bulls) — a lot of us were. It's not an arrogant thing, but you want the challenge of beating the best. And they are the best."

Tony Battie: "When you look in the rafters in Boston, there's no room to hang division or conference titles. You have to win an NBA championship to get a banner hung up there."

Rafer Alston: "When I was growing up, you'd get tired of seeing them (Celtics) win over and over again. Growing up being a Knicks fan, they'd always beat us."

Instead of minimizing the Celtics' tradition of winning championships, Van Gundy should be using it as a motivating factor for his team.

You know what they say:

Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.

10 bucks that in the first press conference Van Gundy will be complaining of Dwight not getting fouls called and on how much Perk is hitting him.

If we are winning and Howard and Van Gundy start crying tonight, please someone start a chant for me:

Either

Dwight Bag
Dwight Bag
Dwight Bag

Or

Ron Jeremy
Ron Jeremy
Ron Jeremy

I can't stand his brother either.  For someone who knows so much about the game, he says some really stupid things at times.  I wish CSN was allowed to call the games still.

I CANT STAND to listen to Jeff Van Gundy comment on games.  He does say tons of stupid things, he has a serious man crush on LeBron, and every time he talks about the Celtics it's painfully obvious that he has something against them.  He's always negative about the Celtics.  Always.

Personally I thoroughly enjoy JVG commentary - I'm pretty sure his LeBron praise is what they call "tongue in cheek"....
God bless and good night!

Wow, if Stan Van Gundy is starting to talk cheap now, I can't imagine what he'll say during the series and after the games lost by Orlando (or even won because he always has something cheap to say, even when his team wins).

He his the only guy I can't stand in this team.
