beat L.A.!

Battier and Artest to thwart Kobe.  A health Yao Ming.  A Scola off the bench.
So why not?  Why can't they do it?

Scola starts for Houston. But I agree, they should atleast be able to slow the Lakers down and take this series to 6 or 7. I think Denver is the team with the real shot against the Lakers.

If Bynum plays meaningful minutes, the Rockets only have one legit big to defend him and the Alpaca (whereas the Blazers would have had Przybilla and Oden to work with -- even if Oden is foul-prone, it's still twelve fouls to work with).  Also, if Odom shows up to play, his athleticism will give Scola fits.

Yao: "what is an underdog?" now that's the right attitude!

it is not impossible for them to beat LA but they wont because they lack enough defensive size and consistency on O, plus they do not have a true distributor for their offense. Yao has to be scoring and playmaking from the post or their next best playmaker is Ron ron who is a great all around player - but you are not beating LA with him creating a good portion of your teams O

If they defend at a high level consistently, Yao is an all around offensive force and they shoot something crazy from deep as a team for at least four games maybe they beat LA. not very likely though

I was thinking the same thing, Denver have a shot against the Lakers the way they're playing...

They can, it's just not likely.

It would be like the Magic beating Cleveland.

Surprising and unlikely but not shocking or seemingly impossible.

I think the Rockets odds of beating LA are much better than the Magic odds of beating Cleveland (if Orlando were to beat Boston and face Cleveland). The Rockets beating LA would be surprising but not shocking. The Magic beating the Cavs would be downright shocking.

Did you say the same for Wade before he got eliminated? Or do you save such comments for mismatches so that you can blame the refs when the better team wins?

They match up with Kobe probably better than any team in the league, but they're gonna struggle guarding LA's 3 bigs (Pau, Bynum, Oden).  They do have some undersized bangers off the bench though.

The key to the series for Houston is Aaron Brooks.  The Lakers are very weak at PG, and if Brooks can take advantage of that and plays with poise, the Rockets can stay in every game.  If not, they probably lose in 5 or 6.

Kobe vs. Lebron = $$$ that's why.

It's also no coincidence that two doco's of the two are about to be screened.

I'm still rooting for the Rockets though!
