Yup. For the first time in a long time, he didn't hurt us when he was on the floor.

Kudos.

Haha.  Exactly.  It's amazing how low the expectations have become for this guy who was supposed to "play the P.J. Brown" role.

I think we will need Moore in the Orlando series more than we did against Chicago. The Bulls played a small lineup most of the time but Orlando will try to explode Howard's game and put Perk in foul trouble. If that happens the combo Moore-Davis (if we play Scal as starter) will be the only way to stop Orlando's interior offense. I hope Doc trusts Moore a little more  ;).

I have my reservations that Moore can guard Howard, or keep him off the boards, but he can foul the heck out of him, nothing dirty, just hard hard hard... the NBA needs goons too!

I honestly don't think Moore helps our interior defense at all.  He's physically weak, and doesn't block shots.  Over the course of their respective careers, Moore has shown himself to be a very slightly better rebounder than Davis, but that doesn't make up for the other defensive deficiencies.

Of course, if Perk and/or BBD gets in foul trouble, we're going to need him.  I don't have very high expectations, though, for any time he's in the game with Howard.

I'm not even sure that Mikki can save his fouls for Howard, honestly.  That's one of the reasons the guy gets under my skin; every game, it seems like he's picking up one or two lazy and/or stupid fouls on the perimeter.

BBD needs to become the round mound of rebound in this series - actually if he can box Howard out and not pull down a single board, I'm cool with it - as we all know, its not always about who gets the board, its about who keeps other guys from getting boards

Not a bad game from Mikki at all. Props to him for coming out an contributing after it looked liked he was to be relegated to the end of the bench permanently.

However, Mikki Moore vs. Dwight Howard is the most glaring physical mismatch between to players who play the same position in the league. I can't see that ending well.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

Doc made his position on Eddie clear when he commented after last night's game not on Eddie's perfect, clutch shooting, but on the level of defense that Eddie played.  Eddie's obviously a great but streaky shooter, has his limits as the offensive ballhandler, but only gets critical minutes if he can play sufficient defense.  I'm okay with Doc on that.

I racked my brain for examples to counter the physical mismatch statement (well if 30 seconds is racking one's brain) and couldn't come up with anything, so I agree, the only thing Moore can do is foul - I think Bill Walker would do a better job on the boards against Howard (and that's not saying much)

What i was trying to say before is that the combo Davis-Moore could work against Howard, not just Moore on Howard. I know how weak Moore is and I know that making him guard Howard is a mistake but what if we put Big Baby on Howard and Moore on Lewis for limited minutes?. Moore can help Davis defending Howard and provide us some length that the combo Davis-Scal doesn't have while Perk is on the bench (if he is in foul trouble).

my expectations for Moore are pretty low. He's not a great interior defender, he gets no blocks, he can't rebound, doesn't box out well, and isn't very quick laterally. That said, IF he can hit a 15 ft. jumper or two while he's out there and pull DH out of the post to open the lane for Rondo and Pierce, that's a positive, but a big IF.

I doubt they'd have Howard guarding Moore though, if he was on the floor with another "big"

as far as i'm concerned, mikki moore needs to do 3 things. 1, learn how to take a charge. he has been awful at this...he tries to take them, but is often in the restricted area, or is moving. the charge he took last night from miller was nice to see for that reason. 2, he needs to hold on to the [dang] ball. he often gets his hands on a rebound, but frequently loses it, and it seems like those frequently go back to the other team. 3, trust your teammates on defense. yeah, he gets called for some bogus stuff, but he also commits idiotic fouls (like trying to take charges terribly). he reaches too much, and hasn't really gotten into the team defense yet. he's got to know we are a well-oiled defensive team, even sans KG, and as long as he does his part, the D should be okay. he doesn't have to single-handedly stop anyone...just don't commit a stupid foul, contain them, and filter them in elsewhere. if mikki moore can improve on any of these 3 things, he can get a decent number of minutes. the dude has a good jumper, and he obviously plays hard.

Ok. but look at our big man rotation. Perk, BBD, Scals, and Moore. Out of those 4, Perk is the only player who is going to to consistently stay withing 7 ft of the basket. Scals plays on the perimeter. BBD stays midrange, unless there's a mismatch. And Moore is really only productive on spot up jumpers and put backs. So i guess what I'm saying is IF Moore is out there I hope he can hit a few jumpers and space the floor. If he stays in the post all he is doing is clogging it. I really doubt we see Moore and Perk on the court at the same time too often, so no matter what DH is going to have to cover a big that is spacing the floor, Moore included. I think it's going to be key to pull DH away from the basket defensively in this series.

Good thing we dumped POB so quickly, who needed a 7 footer rebounder and shot blocker, i mean he went to toronto and they plaed him, what dummies, just because he scored for them, blocked shots and turned into a player, hey we still have 20 guards...!
