Rondo initiated the contact.  He threw Hinrich into the scorer's table.  Hinrich them came after his face, at which time Rondo got his elbow up, and moved it in a jabbing motion.  We'll see if it's deemed to be intentional, but if it is, it would be absolutely consistent for the NBA to suspend him.

That's the first characterization I've seen from Celtics fans where Rondo is shown to be the completely innocent party in last night's fracas.  Interesting.

There's no way what Rondo did will warrant a suspension. I, and the rest of the basketball world, would be absolutely shocked if he gets a one. Those types of entanglements happen all the time over the course of the season. They are no big deal. As for Rondo's punching motion, way too much is being made of it. Rondo was penalized in the game for what he did. Any further penalization would be unnecessary.

About Rondo averaging a triple double for the series, you guys have to give credit where credit is due. Win or lose, Rondo has been the best player in the playoffs thus far. There is a reason only five other players in NBA history have achieved this feat. I find it ironic how this board is filled with stat junkies, but when Rondo puts up the most remarkable stats people have ever seen in the playoffs, they say "if he's on the bench for game seven, I don't care about his stats." I love the way Rondo has played, but he's pretty much been a cheap shot artist the last 2 games.  Hinrich and Miller both have stitches to verify it.

Why is it ironic?  Because people care more about winning than numbers?

If Rondo averages a triple-double, but we lose the last two games because he played poorly in Game 6 and got himself suspended for Game 7, where's the glory in that?

We'll see what the NBA does.  He's played 5 fairly remarkable games this series, and one poor one.  If we lose the series, though, I couldn't care less.  People should give credit where it's due, but the same applies in reverse.  I'm not going to be happy about what a transcendental player Rondo is when he's making stupid mistakes to cost us games.

Would his chances of being suspended be greater if Hinrich was the bigger man and never came after Rondo? I highly doubt it.

The way I see it, the two got tangled up in a box out (which happens all the time, like someone said). One of those players wound up getting thrown to the floor. If it just ended it at that, we wouldn't be talking about it right now... Personal foul, Kirk Hinrich gets 2 shots. But since Hinrich decided to be mr. tough guy, he reacted with his gangsta attitude, going after rondo throwing shots at him. Any motion Rondo made that may have looked like he was striking Hinrich was in self defense, not in any type of retaliation, since you can clearly see after it struck him what was going on, he immediately pulled away and started backing away from the mad man. That is my rationalization, but again I realize that you guys will probably just say I'm wearing those green sunglasses.

I think at this point, it may not really matter if Rajon is suspended or not. I'm not sure if he can by tomorrow, get mentally focused enough to win games. If he has totally lost his aggressiveness and confidence because of all this controversy - then we're not going to win anyway. But maybe he'll bounce back, be the mentally tough kid that Doc says he is... if he's lucky enough to be playing tomorrow.

I can't believe people think 19 assists, 9 rebounds and ZERO turnovers is an "awful game".  Sure, Rajon made a lot of awful plays, including several that cost us dearly at the end of the game, but I don't see how you could look at those numbers and say we'd've been better off without him.

EDIT:  ESPN reports that 19 assists without a turnover ties the all-time NBA playoff record.
