If you are amongst the bloggers here who would inexplicably prefer the Lakers to win it all over Cleveland, this is probably not the thread for you...

The impossible question: Which would you prefer?

1.) This Celtics team defying the odds and blowing past the Cavs to make it to the Finals only to lose to LA, or...

2.) To lose in the ECF to the Cavs, who would win it all?

I am one of the green-eyed few who still believes that the Cs have a puncher's chance to win it all, just for the record, but this one has me scratching my head...

Has to be #1.  I'd much rather see the Cavs win it all than the Lakers, but all other considerations are secondary to the C's being successful.  I'd take more wins than fewer and suck up watching the Lakers win.

I will always rather see the Celtics in the finals and lose then see any other team win it all.

C's in the finals, I really hate the Cavs but would rather them win over the Fakers, but the C's in the finals is tops. Plus it would increase the rivalry, and it would increase even more when the C's win it all the next year.

I'd like to see the Celtics at least make ECF...they still haven't shut the door on chicago and will still have to play a tough series with Orlando, most likely.  None of this is a given.

That is a difficult choice and while I would love to see us beat the Cavs and be in the finals again I have to choose having the Cavs beat the Lakers. In any love-hate relationship I have to with the emotion that is stronger and my hatred for the Lackers in this case wins out. If I look back in 10 years all I would remember is the Lakers won and we lost and my way I just see that the Lackers lost and that is much better. Both stink though.

Yeah, would rather see Cavs win than Lakers beating the Celts.  And we only have a punchers chance with KG playing well.  Otherwise, we are toast.

Only problem is, losing in the Finals wouldn't be considered "successful".  It would be admirable for a team so decimated by injuries to make it that far, and a good story around the league.  But a successful Celtics season ends with a parade.  That's it.

Hey, I started following the C's in 87-88, I'd consider a Finals berth with this team successful.  Anyway, more successful than the other scenario, then.

I think the C's winning the Eastern Conf championship over Lebron, without KG would be a huge accomplishment, so I'll go with making it to the Finals. I'm more into how far the C's go over obsessing about the Lakers.

  Just to defend "bloggers who would inexplicably prefer the Lakers to win it all over Cleveland", I for one generally take that position in a "who do you want to win if it's a Cleveland/LA finals". I'd rather see the Celts beat the Cavs. But if not, I'd rather see the Lakers beat the Cavs because LeBron would likely force management to shake things up and it would probably end up weakening Cleveland, which would then hasten LeBron's departure to NY or NJ, where he'd be a few years from a title. Significantly widens our window.
