What was worse for me was an earlier play when he had an easy shot and then passed the ball to Scal outside the 3 point line. Scal was covered, so he passed the ball back to Marbury who had retreated to behind the line. Stephon then had to throw up a quick three (which of course went in). I'm not looking for another Sam from last year (I think he had about 6 shots in the first 3 minutes of his first stint on the floor) but he needs to be getting something better if he passes up a shot.
One problem is Marbury is being set up to be a 3 pt shooter, and he's only a mediocre 3 pt shooter.

i think its less that he's scared (marbury's ego has an ego, people) and more that he's really trying to be the ultimate team player. that means pass to a more open teammate, even if you have an open look. rondo had a better look. i think everyone on the team (including doc) is trying to get him to take his shots. maybe passing that shot up will finally be the wake-up call to him...he needs to take open looks, and force the action more. you know EVERYONE was probably on him in the locker room about that.

I agree. I don't think he's scared.

I think he's in the midst of trying to reinvent himself, so much so that his contributions to the club suffer at times.

Hinrich was closing in, he made a good shot to an open Rondo.

Yes he could have gotten the shot off, but Rondo also could have probably made an easy layup.

Marbury himself is still saying regularly that he is still trying to adjust to coming off the bench. 13 years as a starting scorer to not playing for a year, to coming off the bench, can not be easy.

Throughout his career he has always required some warming up when it came to shooting. And he was out for like 2 1/2 quarters before he came in. He probably just did not feel comfortable taking the shot, and saw a wide open rondo.
