Stephon Marbury

Why is he getting the blame for almost losing that game yesterday? He choked. So what? He's a mad unselfish player. All he needs is some confidence. He tried his best during the game, and I think people need to cut him some slack. He has progressed from his time on the Knicks 'til now. Sure, he doesn't chuck up as many shots as he used to, but I still believe he is an efficient player. He's effective defensively, and in a few games, trust me, he'll be shooting mad trey's. A lot of people are counting on him to improve, and I'm sure he will.

I dont think he will, hes lost his confidence.  Ive never seen such a great player look so lost and become so useless out their.  He was one of the best scoring guards when he played in NY and PHX.  The play might've been unselfish, but it was the wrong one, he had a wide open jumper and he passed it to rondo who is not an effective outside shooter. 

Theres a reason rondo's playing so many minutes and one of them is that when they bring in marbury for him, the bulls make a run, been a constant theme this series.

you do know he's a career 31% 3pt shooter right? HE's not as bad as rondo but its close.

That said, it was a shot he should have taken, but lets not act like it was ray allen turning down a 3.

Marbury's career is .325, but hes a scorer, well was, they put the ball in the basket.  Numbers arent quite everything, Jordan was only a .327 3pt shooter, but id let him take a game winning 3 for me anyday.  If i remember right, he was a step inside the line and if not, he still had his dribble and no one was running out on him.

The fact is he had at an open shot at a crucial moment and nobody else was open.  In that situation, I'd even be glad to see Big Baby or Scal take the shot.  Marbury shouldn't have turned it down.

By no means have I given up on him, but we really need him to regain some of his old confidence (just some!).

Marbury isn't Starbury anymore. He seems a bit scared to shoot the open jumper out there. He hesitates and makes a mistake by throwing it away. I still think he has a bit of game left but he's definitely not the player he once was. I still think he can improve next season, here or elsewhere.

so i take ti your just going to ignore the fact that the entire bench right now is awful, and that he has the only stand out performance among them so far in game 3 as per normal irrational hatred of him?

Marbury was not brought to the Celtics to be Starbury. He was brought in to play 10 minutes a game and keep the offense going while Rondo gets a breather.

With that said, I still think He should have taken that shot. But if Rondo made that floater, then assists goes to Marbury and it would have been a good play cause Hinrich was closing out on him and Rondo was not being guarded.

If he took the shot and made it then AMEN! If he missed it though, people would have probably said he should have passed it off to the open Rondo.

Either way, I like his defense. I'm sure he's probably killing himself over not taking the shot and tries to make up for it..in which I think he already has with his defense. Hinrich did not touch the ball or get off a shot when Marbury was on him and Hinrich was the hottest shooter on the floor for that game.

  What was worse for me was an earlier play when he had an easy shot and then passed the ball to Scal outside the 3 point line. Scal was covered, so he passed the ball back to Marbury who had retreated to behind the line. Stephon then had to throw up a quick three (which of course went in). I'm not looking for another Sam from last year (I think he had about 6 shots in the first 3 minutes of his first stint on the floor) but he needs to be getting something better if he passes up a shot.
