i am not saying rondo deserves to be suspended at all....i think it is a crock if he is....but i am afraid the NBA wants to make an example of rondo
Why would they want to make an example of Rondo? This is just unjustified paranoia.
i asked this in another thread, why do people give a league that had a ref fixing playoff games 2 years ago the benifit of the doubt and act like people who ask about corruption are loons?
What has the NBA done to earn this free pass since the timmy incident?
They are loons because of comments like the NBA wanting to make an example of Rondo or other anti-Celtics paranoia posts.
Isn't this answer obvious?
that's your opinion, and on most off these crazy post i share it, but the way people who question the league's integrity and immaterialness when it comes to games are dismissed is ridiculous. This is a league where 2 years ago, its been pretty much proven a ref fixed a playoff game, and huge questions have been raised about another oddly officiated playoff game the year before that turned out in his friends favor between the lakers and kings.
yet, consitantly, anyone who brings up ref corruption or the fact that ref's might be influencing outcomes based on personal bais are laughed at.
It boggles my mind how sheep like the general public is (not referring to posters here, to be clear, just the general dismissal off this entire incident by the sports world on stern's say so).
their are mountains of ignored evidence, between the 3-4 calls a night tim made to other officials before and after games, the 15 ref's being forgiven for "indiscretions" in Vegas, and a general failure to make any sort of move to make the process more transparent, as was promised.
Yet most fans
KNOW the game is clean, just badly reffed. They
KNOW that there can't be any grain of truth to allegations that refs favor teams based on personal bias. They
KNOW that the NBA can't be this asleep at the wheel.
and when PHX got no calls or run killing offense fouls in game 3 of the spurs-suns series , everyone
KNEW that despite calls by phx fans that the head ref was calling the game for the spurs, the game was just "badly officiated, not crooked." They
KNEW that a professional NBA ref couldn't possibly be fixing games. Bad at his job mabey, but those PHX fans were nuts for thinking the refs had anything personally riding on the game.
Did Donaghy fix Game 3 of Suns-Spurs?
Kevin Hench, Fox Sports
...
...Just when Phoenix Suns fans were moving through the acceptance phase of their grief over last year's unjust playoff exit comes another knee to the groin.
As if the playoff suspensions of Amare Stoudemire and Boris Diaw (in exchange for instigator Robery Horry) hadn't been a big enough miscarriage of justice, now comes news that NBA referee Tim Donaghy is under FBI investigation for betting on basketball. There are even allegations of mob ties.
While those charges have yet to be proven, there is very little debate among the basketball cognoscenti as to what was the most dubiously officiated game in this spring's playoffs. It was Game 3 of the Suns-Spurs Western Conference semifinals on May 12.
It was a bewildering carnival of bad calls, bad non-calls and egregiously late calls.
Who did that game? Eddie F. Rush, Greg Willard and Tim Donaghy.
...
The Spurs were favored by four in Game 3 and won by seven, 108-101. They shot nine more free throws than the Suns, a perfectly reasonable gap between an interior-scoring team and a jump-shooting team. While the risk of fixing a playoff game is increased by the closer scrutiny of the game, it is easier to place large bets without setting off red flags because there's much more money being wagered on a playoff game than a regular season game.wow, those PHX fans sure are a bunch of whiners, how amazing that 4 late calls made sure the spurs not only won but covered.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvkKdXLwt0UNotice the two huge "bad" calls here. the suns have made a run to get within 2, and amare gets a phantom 4th. The spurs, with amare out, make a predictable run, and duncan is leading it. He clearly runs over nash, which should have been his 4th foul, which should have evened things out a bit for the suns. instead, its NASH's third, and SA begins to pull away and eventually achieves the point spread tim's friends bet that night.
Boy those kooky suns fans huh? i mean, every rational person
KNEW there's no possibility the league isn't on the level in these games after all.

I'm not saying I believe any of the "the league is out to screw the celtics" tripe, it just makes me laugh just as hard when people bring up how loony it is to think officials might be courpt or bought instead of simply bad at thier jobs.
All im asking those, like yourself guava, is what exactly has the NBA done under stern since sweeping this under the rug ASAP to earn this attitude that anyone who thinks corruption might be going on is tin foil hat wearer?
