At least one member of the Celtics entourage was taken aback at the sight of the officiating crew exiting the United Center. Two of the three members of the group, which consisted of Danny Crawford, Bill Kennedy and Marc Davis, were spotted with their families decked out in Bulls gear.

Kennedy ejected Celtics coach Doc Rivers from a game in Chicago on March 17, and two days later was fined (as was Rivers) for his actions.

Take it how you want to take. From the start you can till that this game wasn't going to be easy. from Pierce being mugged 4times with no calls, to no calls on bulls travels, and moving screen-mania on Perk. Funny Business Stern streaks again.

To be fair, it did seem like Paul Pierce got no love at all from the refs in this game.  With that said, the refs aren't the reason that we lost - Ben Gordon and the Celtics' bench (or lack thereof) are the reasons we lost.

the reason we lost was becuase we made two errors in judgement. we got ALOT of calls. Scal's clear path foul, and Salmons not getting fouled before the BG three.

The officiating in this game was atrocious, period, on both sides of the floor - as you expect whenever you see Bill Kennedy on the floor. Nothing I hear about NBA referees surprises me. Tim Donaghy is just the tip of the iceberg.

But we're not going to win any game that lasts as long as this one did, with this depleted and inept bench.

Agreed.  Officiating was horrible and I thought the Celtics got the worst of it.  It's not how many fouls were called, it was WHEN the calls were made (or not made).

Again, it's not how many calls were made, but when they were made.

The worst part was the call towards the end with a minute left in the second OT when Pierce stole the inbounds and got whistled. That was the worst call I'd seen in a long time, but then again, it was made by that same official that ejected Doc back in March. Perhaps another fine is in order?

no it wasn't, it was terrible. We should have won despite the officiating, but it was in no way "fine" Pierce got repeatedly mugged on drives to the hoop with no call while the bulls got to the line on touch fouls in the 4th qt and overtimes. Also, the bulls repeatedly grabbed and held and bumped Pierce on the perimeter and when our guys tried to set picks for him the got called for moving screens, whereas Noah and Miller were allowed to set any type of screens they wanted, and our guys couldn't lay a hand on gordon without getting called for a foul. Also, Pierce stole the inbound pass in overtime and they called a foul and gave the bulls two free throws. On the replay it was a clean steal. How many times in this series has Pierce upfaked, had the guy land on him, and shoot, with out getting a call, and then Rose upfakes and jumps into the player and he gets to the line. TERRIBLE OFFICIATING!!! but we are used to it, and should win in spite of it.

Agreed. We just blew it.
Come on, people, live with it.
This team is not as dangerous
without Kevin Garnett.
I'm already looking forward to
next season. This wasn't meant
to be. Sad, but true.

if you think the officiating was fine then you are lying to yourself just as much as the people who think KG is coming back this season.

Fine, as in not worse than in any
other games we've played this year.
The NBA ref standard pretty much
sucks, I wouldn't blame the refs
for losing this one, though.
We had so many chances.
WE BLEW THEM. I'll live with it.

from today's boston globe:

". An NBA source pointed out before the game that two of the referees were Chicago natives (Bill Kennedy and Dan Crawford). Kennedy also was involved in an incident with Rivers during the Bulls' St. Patrick's Day win in which both were fined by the league for jawing. The source also said that after the game family members of both referees departed wearing Bulls gear."

This is just evidence of what I already suspected.  Despicable, to be honest.
