Well not really, but I've read the name CROTOR for a few yrs now, but have no idea who he was/is. I'm assuming he was a poster who gave bogus trade rumors, but does anyone have the true hollywood celticsblog story on him and want to share either here or thru PM? Thanks.

Oh man, I look back with fond memories on the CROTOR days. I have a hard time remembering the exact details, but he basically got on Celticsblog and told this whole story about how he had an inside contact feeding him info on a trade (I think it was a Pierce trade or maybe Walker return trade). He gave this whole story about how he didn't expect anyone to believe him. But he proclaimed that once the trade went down, people would know that he was telling the truth. He would bait people by posting these constant updates saying how he'd just gotten off the phone with his inside contact and that he had the latest details on the trade talks. That's what I remember anyway. It was entertaining, if nothing else.

was this the guy that posted about being present for secret workouts of draft eligible guys (I think it was maybe Noah) except a report came out like an hour later that the player was across the country on a different workout?  I seem to distinctly remember that...lead to some interesting backpeddling about how the player worked out in the morning but left immediately for another interview.

I remember that - I don't remember if that was CROTOR, but it very well may have been...

I think some people are getting CROToR confused with Celtic Thug, an infamous poster at another Celtics board.

Celtic Thug is the guy who made up all kinds of blatant lies, only to get caught in them, and make up even more crazy lies.  That culminated in him posting as "Ryen Gomes", vouching for his own authenticity.  It was a fairly sad time, because one of the mods at that other board vouched for the guy, claiming he was "legit", only to retract later.

CROToR, on the other hand, wasn't a poster.  Rather, he / she / it was the alleged source of two rumors by the poster Jumbocavs (weird name, but the guy was a Celts fan, with quite a few posts to his name).  As I recall, the first rumor involved the allegedly imminent firing of Doc Rivers.  I can't remember the other rumor, but it similarly did not come to fruition.

It's become a bit of a Celticsblog institution, because nobody knows what "CROToR" stood for, and the poster would never give up his "source".  It was just one of those odd things that lived on, and it has now become the generic response to all of Celticsblog's mysteries.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
The Thug stopped posting on here because obviously they do not have the interweb in Minnesota.
