I don't get it ? the guy has been playing solid D all year long and we put Eddie House in to guard Ben Gordon? We could have also used his play making ability in the second half when our offense was throw the ball to PP at the top of the key and pray.....

I think Doc hoped Eddie could get off a shot.

gotta agree - isn't this the exact type of playoff situation the Celts aquired Marbury for to begin with ??

Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

I missed the 1st half.  Was he terrible?

After playing well game three, I figure he has earned the respect to have a slow 1st half and still play in the 2nd half.

I don't get it either. He should have been playing. Too many minutes for TA.

Yeah, Marbury should've played more, he is OK on D (better than House on Rose anyway) and he could have hit a huge unexpect shot at the end of the game thanks to an extra pass. Plus he had just his confidence back in game 3 and played pretty well in the first half of game 4... I don't understand why Doc didn't play him in the second half but I hope that he'll get some extended minutes Tuesday.

Someone said that Marbury played well in the first half.  I'm not sure how that's at all possible.  This guy is a complete and total liability.  If the Celts ever win, it's totally in spite of this guy.  The Celts were up 5, (19-14) when he checked into the game with 2 minutes left in the 1st quarter.  By the time he left the game, (with 3 minutes gone in the second), the Celts were down 7.

Key to winning for the Celts is the bench holding serve once the starters go out - if they do (like they did in game 3) it's a blowout.  Unfortunately Marbury is a shell of his former self and whenever he's on the floor the Bulls happen to go on a run.  Such is life when there is no real backup point guard.

Someone hasn't been watching the games.
God bless and good night!

Have to say, I was advocating for playing TA because I thought the House / Marbury tandem was creating too many match up problems with the Bulls. Problem is we gave away too many layups and aside from Rondo no one was able to finish near the basket. Pierce has aged 10 years since KG went out.

I would have thought Marbury wouldn've played more as well. But Doc also has a habit of icing guys once they've played well. They'll have a good first half and then you don't see them the rest of the game. You think they must be injured.

I like Doc overall as a coach but sometimes I don't understand these things.

I was at the game at the UC, and even Bulls fans I was next to were asking me why Marbury wasn't being used. And I honestly had no idea. I mean he was 1/3 one of which was a blocked shot that could probably have been called for a foul. He didn't play bad at all, so to the guy above who mentioned the Bulls taking a 7 point lead when he was in, get a clue. The Bulls took a 7 point lead because we went brick after brick after brick.

I honestly have to wonder what would have happened if Marbury had been in instead of TA or House when he appeared to do little to nothing on offense for that period of time.

Like Marbury or not, he still knows how to handle/move the ball. And he was doing a lot of physical training outside LA during his off-time, so he is in physical shape to keep up with these young guards to some extent.

I don't know. Yes, Doc burned out his starters. But would Marbury have actually helped or hurt?

Comparable to Iverson IMO. Big name and reputation, but teams are always better off without him.

Based on what? The awful teams he has been on?

Hardly his fault teams completely reform after he leaves and they get better.
