I stated before we could sign rondo to a long term deal in the 5 to 7 million dollar range. Not the case anymore and his worth keeps climbing

Rondo's contract will run out sooner than later and i think he is easily worth 10 million a season. Thats not max level but good for an all star calibre player like Rondo. As he is getting noticed more in the league, shooting a heck lot better(can nail open and crucial jumpers) there could be a chance he could be offered max type deal somewhere else and thats not a risk the celts org should take. (think about posey)

So danny should talk with rondo's agent regardless of the outcome of this series and by the end of this season sign up rondo to a 7 year 70 million dollar deal.(breaking the other pathetic offer rondo took up)

I love ray allen but it would be a dumb risk to sign him to 1 or 2 year 10 + million per year deal after this season and put rondo on the backseat hoping he will stay and give us a home discount (think about carlos boozer)

Boozer thing can't happen.  Celtics will be able to offer more to Rondo than anyone else.
Celtics fan for life.

I think the C's have a solid shot at an $8-10mil per annum contract if they sign him this season offseason. Otherwise, $10-12mil.

He means hoping Rondo will give us a hometown discount like Boozer was supposed to give Cleveland.

Rondo's been the 2nd-best player in these playoffs so far, behind Chauncey Billups, and he's been very consistent with his jumper out to the 3 pt line.  Someone's gonna make him a max offer or very close when he's available.  Gotta hand it to him, he's earning it.

If we lose Rondo, I'm going to cheer for whatever team he goes to.

I'll remain a C, but [dang]it man, that guy amazes me every single time.

Agreed. I am wondering if he would take a 3 year, $30 million extension

Wait, 3 years seems too little... 5 years, 50 million?

What IS the worth of a 23 yr oldpoint guard who has already led a team to a Championship , plays his heart out and is now leading Celtics in points assists and REBOUNDS ? He is basically averaging a triple double in these play-offs. Its
unlikely he can keep that up that pace, but indicates what he CAN do.

The key is he is a big time player and ups his game when the chips are down.  Last year people thought C's couldnt win with him running the point; maybe he was lucky the Big 3 were good enough to let him have some bad games, but he always learned from
his mistakes and had the guts to come back for more. It was obvious then he would improve his consistency and maybe become a franchise player himself, just as Reggie Lewis did after several seasons when the original Big 3 had left the game.

Quite honestly right now, straight up, who would you trade him for 1 for 1
in the PG department ? Outside of Paul it would be a crazy deal.

Beyond talent and incredible athleticism there are all the intangibles brought to a team, how someone 'improves' the others around him - chemistry if you will and the
importance of character, determination to win and heart - in this department
think Leon and Rondo on the C's. (Otherwise can someone explain how DOES a 6'1" PG lead the team in rebounds for goodness sake ?!)

Gotta try to lock Rajon up for as long as possible this offseason, as long as he isn't asking 20 million as a starting point. We need him badly both for title runs in the next year or two, as well as the future. He's only 23 and already elite, and if we make the right moves we could potentially be able to compete for another championship maybe as early as 2-3 years after KG, Ray, and Paul leave.

The only thing I'm waiting on with Rondo is consistency of effort, as Game 1 illustrates.

When he comes to play aggressively, attacking at the offensive end and defending his rear off at the other end, staying in front of his man, he's elite. Similar to the last two games.

When his defense suffers, as it did markedly in Game 1, he's not elite.

Consistency. When it arrives, this guy will be one of the greats.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Rajon Rondo will be here when we get our first title "post Big 3" in...2014?

You can see that this guy keeps improving. I honestly didn't see it coming in his rookie year. Now I expected that he would reach his level exhibited during the regular season, but he is even playing better. Not only we can say that he is part of the "big 4" but also that he is arguably the best Celtic player in the playoffs.

Huge Rajon!

Danny had his eyes on Rondo since Rondo was in high school and he'll do whatever it takes to keep him.  Rondo will get a fair deal from Ainge.  No worries. 8)
