Now I know that it's not fair to rip on a guy for one bad game. Using the same logic, you can't sing a player's redeeming graces based on one good performance.

That said, Marbury proved tonight why Boston signed him in the first place. I don't think anyone expected him to play as poorly as he did over the last two months. Tonight Marbury played like the old (good) Marbury (minus the cocky trouble-maker attitude).

Maybe he won't play this well every night, but everyone can see after tonight that he has the ability to be a game changer off the bench. He could be the difference in a couple playoff games for us playing like he did tonight. Very promising.

  • There can only be one.
This is what I've been saying for the past month. Prepare to see a lot of Starbury after Rondo's recent injury.

Yup. He was solid in all phases tonight. Very pleased with his performance.

  • Rondo = Good
Keeps getting better every game, and if we do make it out of the first round, will probably get much better (increased confidence because he's never been out of the first round before).

His best game for the Celtics.

The Bulls are a good match up for using Marbury and House since they don't have a lot of size in their back court. I still worry about Marbury matching up against Orlando though.

I think the best is yet to come from him in a Celtics uniform.  The timing on his shot still looks a bit off and I'd like to see him be a little less reluctant in looking to shoot, but he's been ok so far.  He played good defense tonight.

I think his jumpshot is the key.  While it still isn't completely there, it is rounding into form.  If he regains full confidence in his shot, teams will have to play him straight up.  And then he'll be able to blow by some people.  The next game is important for him to actually build some momentum.  Here's hoping.

Thought he played very well. Slightly off topic, but what happened o his head? I saw him get fouled, but it didn't look like he was bleeding when he went to the bench. Than he came back looking slightly like the mummy.

It happened when Heinrich fouled him.  They went immediately into commercial and didn't show a replay.  But I did notice him acting strange right before the camera went to break.  I initially thought he was going after Heinrich but he was probably going to the team doctor.  I also noticed he and Heinrich talking some for a few plays after.  Not sure if it was contentious or not?

Actually as it went to commercial you could see a massive gash over his eye with blood dripping out, but maybe his retarded head tattoo distracted you from it.  I was wondering if they would have to give him a quick stitch job or what.

He played alright.  Still clanging wide open shots and a couple of his passes were a little lazy and could have been picked off.

On the replay, it looked like after Hinrich fouled him that Hinrich kinda walked over to Steph and said something to him. What it was, I don't know, but Marbury certainly seemed to react to it. And to be fair to Steph, and this is probably totally over-analyzing a meaningless  play, Hinrich didn't seem like he was walking over to Marbury to apologize for a hard foul.

Looked like Steph was still pretty heated when he was shooting free throws.

He may have been heated, but he kept his cool at the same time. Marbury has been nothing but a model citizen since he's been here. If he can keep playing this well, this could prove to be a better late season acquisition than PJ Brown was last year. Yeah, I just said that.
