Huh?

Definitely not.  Mourning was a far better player than Mutombo, and I never liked Mourning at all.  Mourning should not be in either.  Look at the guys he's compared to...Elden Campbell, Vlade that should raise red flags right there.  Mutombo was a great guy.  the finger wag was funny, but seriously...people have been crapping on Iverson on the board like nuts about not being a winner etc. etc., Iverson single handedly took this man to the finals, which is as far as Mutombo ever got courtesy of AI.

There is no way this guy is a HOF'er, especially if Rodman didnt get in, no way Mutombo should...

He wasnt ever even the best player on his own team.  A ridiculously overrated player how is this even a debate?
Disagree with this one about AI.  Iverson got all the shot attempts and all the glory, but the team went to the finals because it played championship level defense.  And that is something AI didn't contribute to very much.

Rodman should have been in first ballot, so comparing them helps Dikembe to me

He's definitely a Hall Of A Famer. He should be a lock, in my opinion. Greatest shot blockers and defenders of all time. One of the nicest guys in the league.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

Gilmore is the center who should be in next though.

Yes, absolutely.

As for Mutombo, he's not a HOF player.  Limited offensive skills.  But I wouldn't mind voting for him as a "contributor" for all of the excellent charity work he has done in Africa and elsewhere.

Bumpin this because I have a long memory and why not.  Obviously he did get in but it's interesting to get a small snapshot of CBers' opinion when he first retired.

While I'm not completely familiar with his career other than the trademark finger wag, his dpoy awards (iirc), and his overall defensive prowess, I do have one question - how in the world did he get in the hall of fame before Sidney Moncrief?  Sorry, that really bugs me for some reason, lol. ;D

Yes, HOFer.  Glad he made it in.

Think about all of the one-dimensional offensive players who are in the Hall.  Defense is 50% of the game, and Dikembe was truly elite on that end.

(I haven't reviewed the thread, so who knows, maybe I came down on the other side of this last time, haha.)

This thread reminded me that Brickowski no longer posts here, which is a shame.

I don't think so, but he is such a politician that he probably gets in.

EDIT: LOL, I KINDA figured he would get in because of his schmoozing. Did he get in today? Who else got in?

He should've been in already.

Congrats Big Man.
