Let's put it this way.  If they have to rely on Marbury for more than 5 minutes a game, they will lose to the Bulls.  Then hopefully this Marbury idiocy will end.

I'd rather see TA than Marbury.

Yea I hear ya on this one. TA with House would get the job done at backup PG. I think anyone,Pruitt as well would be an upgrade over Marbury. At least Pruitt can shoot.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...

I want Marbury on the bench with Eddie at the point and Tony at the two. Penetration and defense are completely lacking in the second unit, and Marbury isn't doing enough at either end to keep him in.

After this experiment failed miserably earlier this season, I can't believe I'm reading this. Eddie House is much much better off the ball, coming off a screen, and more importantly not dribbling more than 3 times in any given possession.

Seriously, the mere fact that Eddie isn't handling the ball makes Marbury a plus.

Keep Eddie at sg, him bringing the ball up court as primary ball handler against henrich or rose is downright scary!
I think marbury has done fine as backup pg on offense, his d is hurting us and I think gabe for 5 minutes a game will play FAR better d and I don't think he'd hurt us on offense.  If he sucks it up in 1st half sit him.  I think the big question is if backup pg minutes (in this series) are given to pruitt what is marbury going to do.
anyone remember cassell Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ing about playing time last year when he OBVIOUSLY didn't deserve it
yes marbury is a plus compared to sam

This is why I wanted the Celtics to take Mario Chalmers!  Instead we've got a rather useless Giddens finding his game in the D-league.  Marbury has been a disappointment.  He may be better than Pruitt.  But that's like saying, being drowned slowly is better than getting shot in the head.

Chalmers has been an immediate contributor his rookie season and is a pest on defense, swiping 2 steals per game.  He would have been the perfect complement to Rondo in a rotation.  Opposing points would have gotten no rest.

heres my take on the Marbury thing...

I've looked forward to watching him play in every game.  Couldn't wait to see him check in so I could see his progress.  Loved seeing him penetrate and get some assists and show some improvement on defense.   Then last night he entered Sam Cassell zone... I didn't want him anywhere near the floor and I got nervous every time he checked in.  If it's a close game that we need to win... I don't want Marbury anywhere near the court.  Either he's still not ready or he just sucks, but I'm no longer a fan.  Good riddance after this series ends.

The only thing that changed was that the games started to matter.

^ An interesting take on Marbury's playoff performance so far.  He suggests that if we were to make it out of the first round, Steph would probably start playing a lot better.  Let's hope it doesn't take that long, or else he might never get the chance.

Well, it's not as good as I expected. But he's been doing okay. He pushes the ball past half court under pressure, which we House can't do. He just needs to be more aggressive on offense. He's a bit too unselfish sometimes.

I agree u stick with marbury- furthermore chicago frequently plays a small backcourt so the Celts are able to get away with one of them defending the 2.

we all felt the bench wasn't good enough to carry boston back to the finals...even with a healthy powe and baby comig off it...it was never enough

Uh, not really.

Bench critics got lit up pretty regularly around here for the first two thirds of the season.

But you're right to a degree: Some people have known this bench wasn't adequate for a LONG time.

The biggest problem with the bench is that Marbury sucks.

Rondo is hobbled so the question becomes a bit more urgent. I just think the House/Marbury magic does not work against quick powerful guards like the Rose/Hinrich/Gordon(all 6'3"). I think we need something radical. Like starting Eddie and bringing Ray and Marbury off the bench. At least Pruitt has some length or give tony a shot. Hopfully TA and Marbury are getting some practice time in.

By the way, Marbury is not guarding Kobe (6'6") or Vujacic (6'7") so the sooner we get Marbury and TA working as a unit the better.
Not to mention Courtney Lee and Pietrus with Orlando or Szerbiak and Pavlovic with Cleveland.
