 Ray For James Posey and Tyson Chandler. Why for The Hornets free up cap room and get rid of Chandler who we know they don't want.

Why for us. We get much needed size and defense coming off the bench. And James Posey back.

What, and Posey starts with Walker to back him up?  Yeah, I don't see that happening with good results.  Posey is an energy guy off the bench.  He's the 6th man.  Not the starter on a contender.  Walker should be our 3rd SF next year, getting 10-15 minutes a game, perhaps more if he proves himself.

If the Celtics wanted Posey with his current contract, they could've offered it to him.  I like what Chandler provides when he's healthy, but that's just not often enough.  And you really think New Orleans would be jumping all over trading Chandler without getting a big in return?

Besides not getting another big back, what does NO want with Ray (even if is for one year)?  They already have a designated 3 point gunner/shooter in Peja.  So, the biggest thing Ray offers is already available on their team.  I don't see them making this trade, unless their goal is to get Chris Paul to demand a trade.

you certainly love the idea of moving Ray in your trade proposals.  What's the reasoning?

This trade isn't good for the C's-->Ray is our 2nd most consistent scorer behind PP, our starting 2 guard on a team that doesn't have a ready replacement for him (I'm a big TA fan and even I have to admit that TA can't fill those shoes) and is our top free throw shooter (PP still scares me at the line and game 1 of the CHI series played out just like it usually does with PP at the line in crunch time).   The C's would get back a player they could have resigned but didn't because of the contract he was offered and a big that despite several years in the NBA has yet to live up to his potential for more than a year.

No thanks.

If you wanna trade Ray Allen, ask yourself who you can trade for that will play the 2 as well as Ray Allen, that you can GET with Ray Allen. The answer is nobody.

We need a smart, tough, talented shooter that is professional enough and willing to get 100% behind our concepts of Team and Defense (yeah, I capitalized those words). Who can do that?

Brandon Roy, Joe Johnson, Kobe, Rip Hamilton..maybe guys like Ronnie Brwer or Rudy Fernandez could fill in but do you wanna trust your 2 guard spot to youngins?

I mean the guys that could do what Ray does aren't available for what we could offer them (namely Ray Allen and anyone else besides Garnett, Pierce, Rondo, and Perkins)...and if your only option is to ultimately downgrade the talent of our starting five with only a marginal increase in bench talent being the biggest return, whats the point?

I'd rather keep Ray (and wait for a possible desperation trade scenario closer to the deadline - you never know which team is gonna get cheap or sour on a player).

Instead I'd try swinging something with the expiring contracts of Scal, TA, and/or House.

If the Celtics want an overpaid player like Posey, they could get it through FA.

Keep in mind that the Celtics are hurting financially too. Look at all the empty luxury boxes. Many of those might already be sold but unused due to companies not wanting to pay for catering, but there will be a big problem selling luxury boxes next season. Add to that lost revenue due to KG's injury and its effect on our playoff run. The cap will also be decreasing next year and probably the year after too.

Committing to Posey for 3 years for the money he is getting doesn't make much sense.
