Pierce (disinterested or fatigued)

I know there is alot of blame to go around (Rondo getting beaten time & time again by Rose) (Ray biting on those Gordan fakes) (BBD rebounding like a guard) (Bench getting out worked) At least they are trying.

But the one thing I noticed often is Pierce's halfhearted D. On fast breaks, he never gets backs sorta stares till the play is over. I don't even think he even moves, he watches the play happen. At the most, He acts like he's jugging but he's not, and has a conversation or two with the refs while Chicago scores on fast breaks. As great as he is, Paul Pierce doesn't arrive to play until the second half. And this isn't the first time. Usually Ray starts games out for us scoring points. But since Ray is struggling pick us up "Captain" and maybe we won't have to die/live on one miracle shot.

Anyone else notices this stuff? Isn't he the leader on this team? How do you expect our young guys to follow your lead, when you seem disinterested. KG is gone, now show some leadership by example "Captain".

P.S. Changed title. It's disservice accusing our captain being disinterested without acknowledging fatigue factor.

In all honesty I thought it wasn't 2 classy for KG to go back to the locker room and watch it there. Pierce earned my respect long ways back, and he's been carrying the team most of the season again. If we get back to the ECF's he probably has nothing left to throw at LeRoid, he used the kitchen sink a few games back.......and LeRoid just caught and crushed it with his [**Natural**] strength.

I really can't stand the prevalent attribution fallacy fans resort to to find blame for a loss. Our problem was our lack of legitimate big men, not anyone's effort.

I whole heartedly agree.  There was all kinds of other stuff, no - D for Rondo, Ray was off, etc, but this is what bothered me the most.  He looked like it was a pre season game.  

I wondering if he has totally hit the wall, and realizes that without KG, they aren't winning.  So why not go home, rest up, and get ready for next year?

KG was the leader in game 5 of the finals last year.

TP, how quickly forget what he's done for his whole career here, not just last year.  People always rip on Paul and it p---es me off.  The guy plays his heart out, has been through hell with this team, good and bad, and people bash him all the time.  Not to mention we wouldn't have won a championship or be where we are this season without him, just for those of you that don't realize. 

This team wasn't ready for this game today and I blame the coaching.  We can't rely on KG to get us pumped up and we know Paul is more of a leader by example, then getting people fired up like KG.  That's what a good coach is for.  This series, and playoffs is far from over, but the whole team is going to have to want it more then they did today.  To put the blame on Paul being disinterested is sicking.

I'm not even going to address the ridiculous notion that Pierce is disinterested in any playoff game. But StartOrien has a point. Chicago played out of their mind. If anyone expects Ty Thomas to be knocking down 3-4 crunchtime jumpers in a row, Rose to have the game he did, and Noah have the game he did for the rest of this series is overrating the Bulls too much.

Not to mention the horrendous game for Ray.

No, I do not think the Buklls played a good game. I think we palyed a horrible game which made "them" look good. Also, we made absolutely zero adjustments to the things that were mostly causing us to lose.

Well I believe it was Danny who compared KG to Bird saying they worked hard all the time and comparing Pierce to DJ, in how they would turn it on when it counted, so I don't think the OP should get too much flack. I always feel Pierce does better when he has a player he respects yelling in his ear and pushing him (ie Tione, KG). KG not being on the floor has taken away some defensive intensity from at least a few key Celtics. I guess that's the intangibles that doesn't appear in KG's stat line.
