Somebody answer this question for me:

If anybody else had gone 1-12 over the course of the game, would they have even been in during overtime?  Would they have even been a part of a last-second make-it-or-lose play?

I'm almost certain the answer would be no.  I'd rather have had Tony Allen or even Marbury in at that point.  I think Doc has some questions to answer in this regard too.

Please don't EVER compare TA to Ray, I almost DIED reading that. Ray will make you eat those words. I expect at least 30 points on Monday by Ray.

Maybe if he didn't miss a wide open dunk we could have won.

TP, What about Pierce's FT? It just wasn't meant to be

The good news is that he struggled.  The Bulls needed a career night from Rose and the worst of Ray's career for them to win.  I can't imagine Ray having another horrible game like this.  They didn't even play great D on him, he just missed shots.  I can't wait for game 2!

I wanted TA in at the end of the game as well. Ray Allen was atrocious all night; as bad as he was on offense, he was even worse on defense. I was hoping for TA in the over time, but all of my hoping was in vain.

TA in Game 1 of this series would have been preferable to Ray in Game 1 of this series.  That's all I'm saying.  Obviously Ray on a good night is far better than TA.  But TA or Marbury would have been a better choice at that point, it was clear Ray had no confidence today and nothing he shot was going to drop reliably.

Atlants and cleve showed last year..the way to beat the C's is to put heavy D on RA....get physical with him (the celts have no enforcers to help...!) (dumb move) that is why varajo whacked him around last game Knock RA out, no more easy points...when RA scores. it loooks sooo easy it kills the other team, it opens up inside...it makes things happen......sooooo...get my drift....Tell Doc...our great coach.......over player of stars ect, never develop rookies....and many more lapses..!

Duely noted, but thanx for the heads-up, for who I couldn't imagine...

Yep, they're manhandeling him all day, and that tends to take ya off your game too.

But his shooting woes will be short lived, or else so will this post season, sooner than later ;)

ray was just off - its not like he was blanketed by chicago's defense. he had plenty of good looks. missing the dunk and losing the outlet pass in OT were probably cases of him trying to do too much. but yeah, it wasn't chicago's defense that hurt him, he just couldn't buy a shot. he makes just one or two of those open looks he had, we win.

Well, if Ray shooting averages to ~45%, then he'll be at 55+% for the remainder of the series (thus a win) so let's hope it's the statistical off number.

Am I the only one who remembers how poorly Ray played in the first series last year? In fact, he also played poorly in a couple of Cleveland and Detroit series games if I remember correctly. That is why I am not so sure he all of a sudden is going to turn it around Monday night.

Actually, Ray wasn't terrible against Atlanta.  He shot 45%, and hit 50% of his threes (16-for-32) in the first five games.

Starting in Game 6, Ray went into a prolonged slump where he couldn't hit from deep; over the next 13 games, he went 9-for-51 on three pointers (17.6%).

Then, starting in Game 6 against Detroit, Ray picked it up again, shooting a blistering 30-for-56 on threes the rest of the way (53.6%).

Not once last season did Ray have a game that was as all-around terrible as yesterday's.  It was a complete aberration, and I don't think people should be looking for a pattern.

maybe I'm too one-note in my analysis, but i think this also can be traced back to no KG.

we had so much trouble cutting off  CHIs dribble penetration that it was kinda demoralizing.

The main message going into this game was to shut down the dribble penetration and they couldn't do it.

the human bowling ball, Ben Gordon, while not having a great night, was getting to his spots and to me Ray just looked frustrated all game long by it.

With no KG, adjusting to this is going to be difficult, but even with a slightly better job of cutting off Rose and Gordon (something we are capable of0, I think we can expect better production out of Ray offensively...

I mean, we're gonna see better production from him regardless, but i think better defense will be the real key...
