Can we wait until the end of the game before assuming how fans will react?  Pierce hasn't played a very smart game today, so he probably deserves a small amount of criticism (although he's been far from the main problem, and has done as much good as bad).  I don't think, though, that fans are going to run him out of town.

i'm not saying the c's would lose or lose this series  but whenever our run comes to an end the AVERAGE boston sports fan and the boston media will turn on him.he's the man at the end of the game either shooting or creating and no matter how many time he saves our ass he will be bashed and taken down in boston. only the die hards(like here at celticblog) will stick by him.

Why would they turn on Pierce?  Pierce didn't play great at all, but Ray was the goat of this game, imo.

because the boston was all over pierce before the championship run. all the selfish talk(which was'nt true) came from boston. i've said it before . this is the overall, the stupidest bball city. our die hards are the best, but the average bostonian sports fan laughed at the c's AND people that rooted for them when we were mediocre to bad.i'm telling you. just wait to hear talk that pierce"has returned to his old ways", kind of talk. actually, i bet you hear or read that exact quote out of our media.

i agree, the average fan is just completely out of control when it comes to BBall knowledge. From the "trade Pierce" talk a couple years ago, to the sarcastic cheers for Scal. The dedicated fans of the 70's and 80's have given way for a bunch of 20 somethings that are at the game to get hammered and really have no knowledge of the game.

and its not even that, theres a lot of bandwagon jumpers from the 80's that stopped watching in 90 and are now coming back like they know everything, i was talking about Cedric Maxwell's finals MVP performance and my girlfriends dad who was 2 games in that series said that Max sucked and was only a backup who wasn't even good at that.

paul pierce has been my favorite nba player for a long time, even in the down years. no matter what happens, i'm proud that he is a boston celtic. you won't see or hear me bashing him or wanting him to leave the c's.

Pierce hasn't played a very smart game today.

Pierce played with no heart today.  He has shown so much heart since he was drafted, that I'm starting to think that he's injured.  He showed some effort on defense, but he refused to go to the basket today.  It's almost like he had no legs.  Maybe the long season last year, short summer, and having to carry the celtics every night over the last 2 months, has him beat up.  I'm just hoping he can bounce back.

Doc bothered me the most if anything. RA was ice cold, pull him for House, Powe picked up 6 quick points in the 2nd quarter, we saw him for 5 seconds in the second half.....
