No disrespect to CP3, but I've always said TP is the best point guard in the league. The fact that Parker has a Finals MVP, and CP3 hasn't gotten to a Finals yet, trumps almost all arguments to me.

Ten TPs to the first non-Hobbsian individual to get it right.

Reading this sort of baffling defiance of all logic and reason absolutely dumbfounds me.

Even if you believe that Parker is somehow the better player (why this would be, I'm not sure), there's got to be a better argument for it then "He played well in one series that CP3 never made because he hasn't played on the team of the decade."

Roy is disqualified because a) He's Roy Hobbs and has supernatural guessing powers that make it unfair for the rest of the board, and b) possibly more pertinent to this issue is that I sent him the link earlier.

Scoop Jackson.

He and Jemele Hill suck.

Paid in full.

There are a couple of other gems in there as well (like Jemele naming "George Karl" as a candidate for player with the most to prove).  I'm astounded that someone actually thought to combine these two for a piece.  Reader beware.

I dont have a problem with someone saying tony parker is better then chris paul, of course the reasoning is rather dull.
Tony Parker is exciting and always in attack mode
to me, chris paul is extremly boring to watch as are the hornets, chris paul stands at the top of the key, dribbles the duration of the shotclock until he decides to shoot, kick it to 3, or give it to david west to shoot a jumpshot or create for himself

Tony Parker being the best PG in the league isnt a stretch at all.  Just because CP3 has the ball in his hands the entire game and gets all of the numbers on that team doesnt make him necessarily on John Stockton's level, where everybody wants to put him.  Tony Parker's teams always win.  Tim Duncan is definitely on his last legs, Manu has been injured for 2 seasons, the rest of their team is pretty much horrendous, yet they are still near the top of the western conference consistently.

Like it was said hes been a finals MVP and a 3 time NBA champ.  I dont see how this is a stretch really.  its debateable but not out of the question.  I think if he were on a different team, he would be up at 26, 27 ppg.  Hes nearly unstoppable.

I think the idea that Tony Parker is a better PG than Chris Paul is an extreme stretch and Jackson's reasoning borders on the insane.

CP3 is one of only 5 players to have led the league in assists and steals in the same season since 1974 and he has now done it in consecutive years. He is the first player to lead the league in assists and steals AND finish in the top 10 in scoring. Paul will be a first team NBA All-Defensive player and is a much better defender, rebounder, passer, shooter and three point shooter than Parker is.

And he's 3 years younger than Parker. He's put up astounding numbers and distinguished himself as a All-Time great at his position with some of his feats for a player of his age. Simply put, he is the best all around player at his position since Magic Johnson. It's not his fault that he hasn't been surrounded with the Hall of Fame talent and Hall of Fame coaching and overall franchise stability that Parker has been exposed to since his rookie season.

Rajon Rondo had 21 points, 8 assists, 7 rebounds, and 6 steals in a finals clinching game before... That's 21 more points, 8 more assists, 7 more rebounds and 6 more steals than chris paul has ever had in finals game... Does that meamn Rajon is better than Paul?

That's pretty much my thought, Nick.

Shiggins, again, my point wasn't necessarily that TP>CP3 is completely insane (but I think that's a stretch), but I think Scoop's reasoning (which isn't "three titles" but "one Finals MVP") is ridiculous, all factors considered.

Also, Chauncey Billups has a Finals MVP and CP3 has never been to the Finals.  Is he a better PG than CP3?

Paul Pierce has a finals MVP, so he must be better than Lebron... Right??
