Do you buy Doc's comments?

I personally don't. To me, it sounds like KG just isn't ready to go for round one, and Doc doesn't want any of the players having a "we'll be fine when KG comes back" mentality.

Seriously, the ECF are what, a month away? How could he even make those comments right now truthfully? We've seen coaches motivate their teams in similar ways before, and I honestly think that is what Doc is trying to do. Roy Hobbs posted some dated quotes from Doc in another thread. Going from one to the next to the next, it just doesn't add up.

Am I alone here?

Nope. I don't understand how they got from the whole day-to-day or week-to-week thing for the past two months to Doc today saying "it's the first time I've seen him run" (in how long? they didn't press him) and ruling him out for the next two months.

I'm thinking at this point Glenn is saying there's no downside to saying he's out the maximum (and if he comes back in the playoffs that's a huge psychological boost for the C's and demoralizing for opponents). Not that I'm getting my hopes up we'll see him this year. But I didn't believe what the team was saying for the last month or so, so why should I believe them now? How do they know how he'll be in four weeks when Glenn was saying less than a week ago he was sure that he'd be back for Saturday? And yes, they were trying to sell playoff tickets. Still...

Well, I take Doc's comments with a grain of salt.  Doc is absolutely saying what he should be saying at this point.  If KG has actually gotten worse in this last week, there's no way he can play in the 1st round and no reason to assume he'll be ready for the rest of the playoffs, should we continue to advance.  In my opinion, that's the smart coaching move.  You need to rally the troops and let them know that they cannot expect KG to come back and make everything better.  We proceed like KG is done for the year, and the rest of the players have to rely on themselves now.  Great coaching move.  

But do I think KG is done for the year?  No way (see my fan post).  As a team, we need to prepare as if KG isn't coming back.  As a coach, Doc needs to prepare as if KG isn't coming back.  But taking in what's transpired the last 8 weeks, I think it's safe to say there's a decent chance that KG plays at least one more time before it's all said and done.  But is Doc going to say that out loud?  No way.

simmons casually mentions in his podcast that KG's knee swelled up after only 20 minutes of practice.  NOt sure if anyone is reporting that or if he got that from one of his sources, but... yeah...
