they were going through his injury and hannah storm said it will be KG's decision if he plays or doesn't play in the playoffs...

what is interesting to me is I think now it is all about how much pain KG can stand while playing...i think the team knows he won't be pain free and he wont hurt himself any further....and they are leaving it up to KG...we all know if it is up to him he will play...just remains to be seen at what level

Does the team really know this? Something pressing on a tendon sounds like it could end in disaster to me...

well if they are leaving it up to KG they gotta know something...i fully expect KG needs surgery at some point but didn't want to miss the playoffs...i certainly hope this isnt a situation where they put him out there and he just cant get it done..i dont believe they would even entertain the thought of putting him on the floor if it was going to hurt himself more....i guess saturday will be telling...either he plays well....he struggles or he doesnt play at all

"KG spent five hours with medical staff and going through everything and the trainers, and I don't know all of the thing that were discussed at that time, but from my understanding, surgery was never really discussed as an option right now," Ainge said. "There's a -- what do you call it -- a spur on the back of knee rubbing against the tendon. It's not a structural damage, but at the same time, that might have been discussed as something to do at some point. But I don't believe that was discussed as an option to do in the short term."

mange the pain until the playoff run is over...then remove the spur in the offseason...IMO that is their plan..

the herald says it will be KG's decision:

Hopefully he makes the right decision for himself and his career and shut it down for the playoffs.

Its beyond clear to me he shouldnt play, isnt healed, and the fact that its his decison maybe shows theyve already told him "go if youre ready" and he doesnt think he is, which isnt good.

Yes KGs passionate, intense, loves basketball, blah blah blah, but if hes not healthy, he shouldnt play

If he isnt healthy, he shouldnt play, and I just dont see how KG with a glass knee is a bonus, im not buying that

The good thing about the injury if there is such a thing is kgs game.  He has the range of a sf or just inside 3 pt line so a big has to defend him pulling a rebounder away from hoop.  The we have perk, powe, davis and even moore as rebounders.
We need him to win it all but I don't think we need him at all for first series and then more as we go on.

...or Sunday.  I have a feeling the first game won't be until Sunday, and I know I won't feel 100% confident he is coming back until he is smacking his head against the basket support.

It may be worth it to play through the pain and hope for the best in the eastern finals/nba finals but I'm not crazy about risking it in the first round or two.  What if he gets through the first two rounds before the pain becomes too much?  That would be a total waste and we wouldn't have a shot against Cleveland.

I thought Saturday was pretty much a done deal. I guess they could do Sunday and then Wednesday for game 2 to avoid the Springsteen concert.
