The Celtics get to face the weakest playoff opponent.  The importance of last night's game against Philly was not lost on Pierce, that's probably why he wanted to play.  He knew with KG not 100% they need an easy first round in case KG needs more time to rest up.  Looked like the rest of the team didn't care about this game until Pierce yelled at them in the huddle.

Amazing how great players like Pierce can bring their best when it matters most.  :)

Pierce also showed that he is ready and in postseason form. 8)

So, THANK YOU, PIERCE!

Agreed...and I know theres alot of doom and gloom around here, but someone needs to write an article appreciating this teams season.. some perspective...I mean if we win tonight, we're only finishing 4 games off last years record...thats impressive, and wasnt even really expected if we stayed complelty healthy...everyone expected the celtics to lose more games this season...and they did ...4 maybe 5, even with all the injuries and KG missing over 20 games. Im proud of this team, specifically paul pierce who hasnt missed a game (until tonight)

+1, Bankshot. Paul can never get enough
love, as far as I'm concerned.

Plus, I won in the PAPOUPG because of
him, so thanks, Paul  ;D

Paul was other wordly last night.  It seemed like he could not miss, and he hardly did.
He played extremely hard on defense as well. The last two Philly possessions he had Iguodala totally smothered no matter what they did to try to free him.

When I read he had no rebounds I was shocked, because there is no question that for most of the night, especially in the first half and the last five minutes of the game, he was the hardest working Celtic on the court on both ends.

Paul Pierce proves every night that he's the captain of this team, and I'll be forever thankful the C's were able to have a player like him for so long. He deserved a ring last year, and he deserves one this year.

Paul is dialed in.  The way he is playing, there is little doubt in my mind that he can outplay Lebron and Kobe again this year in the playoffs.

No one is better in the clutch, both offensively and defensively.

Anyone know what he was yelling/lecturing the team about yesterday against the 76'ers???

It was great to see the captain take charge

Last night I was impressed about how tough PP is in defense and how clutch in offense. He cares about this team and puts everything he has on the floor. Others could have had a night off since the game was almost meaningless but he showed us and the rest of the team that he is a real pro!!. Some other players could have more media coverage but as for me he is in the same level or even higher than Kobe or LeBron even though he is not being considered as a MVP candidate. He is my MVP because he has carried this team to where it is! Thanks Paul!

I think it was about the lapses on defense after the 76ers had made a bunch of dunks and lay-ups to take the lead.
Also can someone tell me why TNT decided to single out Gabe and circle his face in that huddle? Was it because he was the only one facing the camera ???

TP for the great topic. Pierce the leader has been amazing this season. He's been a warrior, clutch playmaker, carried the offense when neccessary, played tough defense, cheering on or calming his teammates down, he's done it all. To me he's been as great to watch even when the ball isn't in his hands or he's off the court.

Pierce is a consummate pro.

He wasn't going to put up with the handful of guys who were mailing it in against the Sixers, and he told them so. Tremendous leadership, and without that and the energy Marbury brought to the floor on a night when Rondo was among those mailing it in, the Celtics lose that game.
