Milicic gave an interview to a Serbian TV station RTS and said that he won`t stay to Memphis and that he would like to play for Olympiacos (where to money flows i add)because it reminds him of Red Star

I don`t think that NBA will miss him

I think he's going to dominate in Europe. I think he would've been a better NBA player if he'd ever played for a coach that wanted him to be more than a banger

something tells me he'll be back, I assume Memphis can still trade his rights?

I really really think that we'll be seeing way more of this in the future. Childress sorta did it. It's the ultimate holdout. Don't like your contract or coach? Get the same amount or more to play in Europe.

Can you imagine if Kobe was like "Well I've got an offer to get 20% more in Italy and I do speak fluent Italian cause my dad played there and the wife was just saying the other day she wanted to leave the hustle and bustle of LA to get more privacy and I was like 'how's bout Rome baby?' and she was really happy about the idea."

any player with an ounce of Euro in them or a relative over there or something could play this card easily, and Childress did it and he didn't even have that.

Stern wanted to expand the game and that has its pros and cons

Childress was a free agent, restricted only if he signed by an NBA team. Is that the case with Milicic? If he still has another year on his contract, he can't leave the NBA, correct (Roy??)

Milicic has talent and physical attributes to be successful, he just hasn't found the right team or the right coach to help him. I bet cliff ray can work some magic on him. I hope he stays & proves the world wrong. How old is he 23/24? He can still make it.

How many different coaches does a player need to have before we can no longer blame the coaches?

Marcus Banks is still looking for that perfect coach to not squander his immense talent.

Does Darko have a player option to opt out of his contract or is it firm?

Does Dr Larry Coons FAQ address a situation where a player with years left on his contract can leave the Association and play in a Foriegn league off shore?

Perhaps the key could be a contract buyout of Darko Milicic of 0 dollars.

He can absolutely leave the country and play in another league.  Other players have done this.  The contract with Memphis only prevents him from playing for another NBA team.  Said contract is only valid in the US.  He can retire any time he wants to and play overseas.  NBA contracts, while pretty iron clad, are not akin to slavery.

Anyone remember Bob Ryan's article in the Globe before Marcus Banks's rookie season, where he said that if he wasn't an All-Star point guard in 5 years, something is horribly wrong with the Celtics organization....oops!!!

Think of it this way: Darko is only a year and a half older than both OJ May and Mike Conley and is 3 years younger than Hakim Warrick.  He's younger than Mark Gasol.

He could still end up an OK NBA big man.
