KG's return gets pushed back yet again.  Doc said today that KG will only play in the Wizards game on Wednesday before the playoffs.

Not advocating for this, but if KG can only play, let's say 30 minutes per game throughout the playoffs, then it sure would be interesting to watch him come off the bench and play with Marbury and House.  Of course, KG would finish games, but if the Celtics are flowing right now with Baby starting, and KG at less than 100%, is this idea worth considering?  Might blow the other team's mind :o

I don't get it. Why delay KG's return day after day and then allow him to play in the last (and meaningless) game of the regular season? I'm not sure that 15 or 30 minutes in this game will really help him to get back in shape or in the flow of the game, for me it's more likely that it will fatigue him more than anything.

With all his delayed returns, I think I know how the female species feels when they sit by the phone and dont get the call :P  I will believe it when I see it. But I dont think I would be against him comming off the bench. If BBD keeps hitting these shots and the rest of the team is able play d at an elite level, then bring him in as a sub.

I dont get it either. He is either good enought to go or not. i dont think his injury is going to improve taht much in a few days to let him play.

Good move by Doc.  There's no need to play KG in back-to-back games at this point, even if he only plays 15 minutes each game.

In the playoffs, he's going to need off time between each game to let his knee rest and to prevent swelling.  Luckily, there's a least a day between every game in the playoffs.

Personally, I think it was a mistake earlier in the season to play KG in a back-to-back situation (at SA, then at Memphis the next night) right when he came back.

Holding KG back until the Wednesday game also gives him a day to recover from his first full practice (which is supposed to happen on Monday) and also gives the fans something to get excited about, since that night will be Fan Appreciation Night.  Just a good move, on many different levels, by Doc and the Celtic brain trust.
Folly. Persist.

Apparently because the team doesn't want him to play back-to-back games. And I can tell you right now he's not playing 30 minutes in that game.

Ugh... let's face it. He hasn't played full-time since 2/19, which was supposed to be two weeks, which became four weeks. He came back on 3/20, played four games with limited minutes and was fine and dandy (until: the secret setback) and since then they've been pushing his return back and back and back. So now Glenn says it's the last game of the regular season (as opposed to the last two games). The target keeps moving farther away as soon as we get within striking distance, like a mirage in the desert. There's something they're not telling us.

Is the next story line whether we hold out KG until the Eastern Conference finals to let him heal? Game Seven? He'll be in great game shape.

I've been trying to keep a positive outlook all this time but the news today that he "might" play the last game of the regular season as opposed to the last two games (even with limited minutes?) kind of reached the tipping point. Anything he gives us this year is gravy. Everybody else is stepping up, plus let's get Leon back. And if KG can give us a Willis Reed type appearance, I'll take it. But the "KG will be ready for the first round of the playoffs" talking points I'll leave to Doc and the Celtics ticket office.

True:

http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/sports/celtics/index.php/2009/04/11/garnett-due-back-before-playoffs/

"Garnett has missed 19 of the past 23 games since spraining his right knee in Utah on Feb. 19. The power forward returned to the lineup for four games, but has been sidelined since March 25. Unlike that comeback, Rivers said Garnett will not face any restrictions on his minutes this time."

If Doc feels he can play KG for 30 minutes or so, then he should be fine for the playoffs.

Except that Glenn has been spectacularly wrong in all of his predictions about KG for the last month. Or he's not telling us what he knows. (Which is understandable and legitimate from a standpoint of not giving the enemy any info.) But he loses all credibility with this routine.

I'd rather he do the Belichick route and give us the Sgt. Schultz "I know nothing" line rather than getting our hopes up and revising his line every three days.

I must not be very bright, but who's Glenn? I saw Dan Duggan posted that.
