Ok, that's my final medical diagnosis for the playoffs.

We had the best original starting five before the injury. The key is to keep our B-team scoring, so that by the middle of Q4, the score disparity is within 2-3 possessions and the original starting five (w/ KG) can win it all from there. In other words, don't risk more than the max allotted time on a per game basis. The risk here is that any additional inflammation needs to be able to heal within a 48 hour span.

Against Chicago or Detroit maybe....but against Orlando and Cleveland, I think you're lookin at 52 minutes total played. Thats right, two positions simulatneously. And a +/- of ∞...thats right. I looked up how to make the infinity symbol just to make a hyperbolic point.

Ok, that's my final medical diagnosis for the playoffs.

Deduced how and with what credibility?

Please excuse my skepticism - I'm just not sure I understand where this comes from, especially considering the authoritative tone of the thread title.

And take into account that by many accounts there may not be a better example of mental strength in the NBA than Garnett. He is the living embodiment of "mind over body". I don't think the guy has ever willingly sat out with an injury in his life.

Does the original poster have a medical degree? If so has he diagnosed KG in person? I suspect the answer to both is no.

I love KG but you were very willing to throw around the hyperbole you mocked in the original post, in your most recent. By many more accounts KG has been question for his mental toughness at the end of games and he sat out the last 6 (i believe) games of his timberwolves career with, knee issues. And (i do not believe this to be true but) the living embodiment of "mind over body" probably wouldnt go 0-2 in the deciding possession of an NBA finals game.

Hyperbole is everywhere. The facts are KG is a great great player and I have never seen anything from him to make me think he will give the team less then everything he can. I am holding out hope that is his usual 31 minutes a game - until I am forced to see otherwise.

Well first I never mocked the hyperbole in the original post. I kinda of mocked myself with hyperbole in my post. Im surprised people would read it any differently.

Secondly, KG being clutch and KG willing himself past injury are two separate things. I do think that KG's "lack of clutch" have been exageratted, but thats irrelevant to my point.

in 2006/2007 KG missed 6 games. The last six games where a team that was tanking was jockeying for a playoff spot.

In 2005/2006 KG missed 6 games. The last six games where a team that was tanking was jockeying for a playoff spot.

You can't question his toughness based on those 12 games.

Previous to that he'd had 3 straight 82 game seasons, averaging 39 minutes per game.

Previous to that he'd had 3 straight 81 game seasons, averaging 39.5 minutes per game.

We all know if KG had his way he woulda been back sooner this season, and missed less time last season. In the grand scheme of things he's one of the toughest "warriors" the NBA has.

My point in mind over body is that KG is one of those guys that would play 40 mins on crutches if we let him, and when it counts he won't be missing games, or missing minutes.

I didn't know the poster JR Giddens had a brother.
