One thing that can make a team great is continuity from year to year and guys knwoing each other and how to play together. Look how much better our starting five was this year compared to last form having one seaosn under their belts.

Along those lines, anyone thought maybe both Powe and Baby will be r-esigned rather than one traded with the idea being maybe Baby or Powe will considered one of our back up centers? I mean, on most teams you have to drop 3-4 mil for a decent back up center and also 3-4 mil for a decent back up PF...

I think we could be just fine year in and out with a big man rotation of:

Perkins / KG / Baby / Powe and for lenght off the bench > Moore or =

Will we find a better back up center for $3-4 mil than Baby or Powe? Even if under sized they've both proven they'll go to the mat, know our system and seem able to hold down the fort. I think the key thing is having that one other long Vet min type center for length when needed is all.

Thoughts?

I think we are really lucky to have both of them playing at this level right now considering what they are paid.  Unless the free agent market really dries up, it'll be hard to keep both.

My feeling is that we have sort of been 'showcasing' Baby a bit this year.  My hunch is that he gets traded away along with TA in order to add another veteran rotation player.  Then we sign POwe for around 4-5mil and Mikki at the vet min to firm up the front line.

What do you think a package of Baby+TA is worth?  Expiring young talent has got to be a commodity in next year's market, right?

Yeah D Dub, it's possible they could be showcasing Big Baby, I don't know. But I like Big Baby. He lost some serious weight this year, you can see it in his face. If he takes the next step with his weight and loses about 15-20 in the off season, he could be an absolulte terror from outside and inside on offense and without losing any strength ( he'd still be around 275 ), he'll be able to bang with the best of them down low. At 275, he would also be alot quicker and with more lift around the rim. He and Perkins can be quite a load moving forward...

It's tough. I think you could get something good for Baby and TA. But I think baby has star potential. I'd be willing to go with Perk, KG, Baby, Powe and one longer addition ( keep Moore or maybe sign Rasheed Wallace or someone else with the Mid level? )

At off guard, it would be nice to have House for offense and TA for defense behind Ray. Unless Ainge sees Giddens eventaully being a kid who can D-up and score, I think we keep TA and House behind Ray. If Ainge thinks Gidden will get there then I can see TA being package with Powe, which I also think you could get something good for. Downside, you lose alot of physical toughness with those two if you trade them.

Tough calls. I think I'd go for continuity if I could do it. Maybe try to re-sing Powe and Baby to decent three year contracts that run out when KG's does.....

Then if you can add a Mikki Moore and a vet point early in the season, I think we're good to go.

If we'd been healthy all year and added a Mikki Moore type ( Bir[dang]) and  vet point ( Jarret Jack type ) early in the season, I'd say we probably push for 70 wins this year...

I think Baby has more versatility than Powe. They both are productive, they both work hard, but I feel that Leon is more of a liability against longer opponents, especially the Lakers. At least Baby can swing outside and shoot the J. Leon is pretty ineffective against a Gasol and Bynum tandem. And let's face it: Mikki Moore is not the solution either.

I'm not sure what you mean by showcasing. They've been down to 3 bigs for quite somw time. I don't think they really have a choice but to play him extended minutes.

That being said, I think he's really improved quite a bit and if forced to chose between the two I think I'd resign him. While I like Powe, I think Davis has a more complete game. He appears to be better defender, shooter, and passer.

Well yeah, we've been short handed lately -  but lets not forget early on when KG went down him and Powe were pretty much neck in neck.  Baby was given the nod to take the starters minutes and has benefited greatly from it.

Then you've got Danny Ainge talking him up at every opportunity.  Didn't he just go out of his way last week to say something like,
"Glen Davis is better right now than any of our bench players were last year".

Danny's posturing more than anything else makes me think he is being showcased.  I can't see a scenario where we have $$ to resign both of them, and I am sure they are already working on next years salary cap plan.

Got you. Athough I do think Davis started because he pairs up better with Perk as he has and outside shot to spread the floor.
