Jordan could go in by himself and possibly be the best class ever. He's paired with two unbelievable players though. I have to give the nod to this year's.
Ugh...when is the NBA going to stop riding Jordan's coattails?
Jordan ruined the NBA for me. Or rather the NBA ruined itself by marketing Jordan up the wazoo. Sure Jordan was an amazing player, perhaps the best ever. But the NBA's marketing of the individual player rather than the team led to what we've seen during the 90s and most of this decade (the exceptions being the focus on last year's C's and many Spurs and Pistons teams). Yes, before Jordan came around, the NBA gave lots of attention to Bird, Magic and Dr. J, but, to me, there seemed plenty of focus on the rest of the team as well (McHale, Parish, Abdul-Jabbar, Worthy, etc).
This season, the NBA is forcing LeBron's Cavs and Kobe's Lakers in our face because that same formula (i.e., Jordan's Bulls) worked so well. I'm going to be bored to tears if it is Cavs-Lakers in the Finals. Maybe each team plays team basketball well. But every other word said by the announcers will be either 'LeBron' or 'Kobe'. And David Stern will love it.
