For next season, I'd like to see Danny take a stab at any of these players: Grant Hill, Antonio McDyess, Al Harrington, Charlie Villanueva, and Jamal Crawford. Needless to say, I'm in favor of making reasonable offers to Davis and Powe. I could, however, care less about Marbury and Moore.

Would tomorrow be too soon for Hill to join us?

Memo to Ainge: Can we please, please, please have a competent backup at the 3 for next season?

Pretty please?

Most of the names are unrealistic.  Gee, I'd take LeBron.  Do you think he'd be willing to play for the MLE?

I'd love Delonte back, but why would Cleveland trade him to their biggest Eastern division rivals?

I have zero interest in Ben Gordon, a gunner who doesn't defend.

But here are some realistic guys, all of whom will be unrestricted free agents in June:

Rasheed Wallace.  Would he play for the MLE to get a ring?
Jason Kidd.  Ditto
Ron Artest.  Ditto
Grant Hill
ZaZa Pachulia
Anthony Parker
Ronnie Price

Al Jefferson, if he is healthy.   :)  It is realistic. Two years ago, no one thought getting KG was realistic and yet it happened.

I highly doubt this, considering that he already has a ring.

Geez... we have very different tastes when it comes to basketball players.

Gordon is an extremely undersized shooting-guard. A not very efficient volume scorer who takes jump-shots and can be a tremendous defensive liability.

Gomes is an hard-working guy without a NBA position: can't defend 3s or 4s.

Villanueva is one of those players than can drive you crazy. He's extremely inconsistent, lacks focus, doesn't defend. Poor man's Troy Murphy.

Rashard Lewis is obviously a good player and a very good jump-shooting big, but an overpaid one. He's, at best, average defensively and he's not a good shot-creator.

West, yes, I like as a defensive minded combo guard, he could be an extremely good backup guard in an excellent team.

---------

My picks:

Thabo Sefolosha
Mbah a Moute
Kevin Love
Rasheed Wallace
Jeff Foster

Excellent list, although I don't know if we could slicker McHale again for Kevin Love. I'm already ready to retire his digits again for taking what he did for Garnett.

Love to have four of those five, and I'd take Rah-weed too for a one-year ring chase.

Oh you're correct, I don't think we have any chance of landing Love anytime in the near future. Or, by that matter, any other of those players except Wallace (and maybe Foster). I just took "realistic" in the sense of "not superstars a la Duncan, Kobe, James, Howard, etc.".

“Being a Celtic is, every decision you make is about the team. Every cut you make is about the team. Every pass you make is about the team. You take yourself out of it. It’s not for everyone. If you don’t want to win, don’t want to play team basketball, and it’s more about you then you’re probably not a Celtic." Doc 2010
