I'm leaving for Maui tomorrow afternoon.

I started on April 15th...

My goal was to jog 100 miles.

I'm at 99... I'll jog a few today.

So... 2 months... a couple miles a day around 5-6 days a week. I also usually lift the days I jog.

I went from 180 to 160.  20 pounds in a couple months.  Pretty easy.  It helped that I stopped doing stuff like eating a full pizza in a single seating.

Do you have to have a degree or a teaching degree to sub?

judging by the people who sub for me when I'm out, you basically need a pulse

I see. I'm curious because here you need a teaching degree in order to even sub.

not in mass, we have kids come back from freshmen year of college who sub

That's terrible.

Another 2 week update...

I'm down 16 pounds overall, but have definitely let the hard core "watching what I'm eating" slip a bit.  Working on that.

On the bright side I haven't missed a day in my workout routine in 4 weeks.  I'm feeling really great about that.  I'm at the point where I get a little bent out of shape if I have to alter my workout schedule to fit something else in.

Anyone else?

any updates? I hit my original goal, but now its time to go for a new goal

Gym's going great.  I've been on a regular schedule there for however long this thread has been going.  Starting actually feel some muscles in places they weren't before.

Dieting has not really been going so hot.  Been sort of stress chowing lately.  Trying to get a grip on that again, but I'm glad it hasn't effected the exercise routine.
Glad to hear its going well.

I'm trying to get in somewhat reasonable shape myself.

The places I've been working do require a college degree and a CORY check (make sure you're not a pedophile - or at least that you have no record of being one).  I've also had to interview with either the principal or vice principal.

One place I sub at pays $3 more a day if you have a teaching degree - which is really kind of insulting to the degree that I'd rather just be paid the same if I had a certificate.  Anyhow, that I have a degree in communications, have prior experience working with kids, and am in the midst of pursuing a Masters in Education I feel fairly well prepared for the job.  But they do really throw you to the wolves sometimes, often without anyone checking in on you to see how you're doing. Some teachers leave pretty lousy lesson plans, which is somewhat of a recipe for disaster.  If the kids sense that the teacher isn't sure what he's supposed to be doing they'll make their own "plan".

Yup

even as a veteran teacher, sometimes subbing is atrocious - when someone doesn't leave plans (especially if its a group of younger kids) its pretty darned awful

OK, this years attempt at a healthier diet is going well.

My wife and I are on a 90 day diet plan.  Today is day 8.  The first 9 days are pretty much a cleansing.  We've been eating fruit, veggies, brown rice, and non-fat yogurt - and that's it.  Me meats.  No dairy products.  No white flour or white sugar products (bread, pasta, cookies, etc...).

I'm actually feeling great.  A little hungry, but I'm really enjoying an aspect of the diet that I had not anticipated; my brain feels much lighter and sharper.   It's an excellent sensation.

Having been doing much organized exercise.  Been really, really busy.

Feeling good though.  Only dropped a few pounds, but I'm liking how it's working.

Tomorrow we can add in a small portion of meat and cereal (high fiber stuff).

(and apparently I've posted 7000 times in a little over a year  :o )
Yup
