Celtics reserve forward Leon Powe hopes to return from a sore right knee in time for the team's playoff run.

"The playoffs is what we're aiming for right now," said Powe. "But Doc (Rivers) said that maybe I can (return) a little bit before that."

Powe will miss his seventh straight game on Wednesday night.

He also insisted that Boston's decision to shut down Kevin Garnett with a similar knee injury won't affect his situation.

"It doesn't change anything for me," Powe said. "It's no fun to sit, but I just have to get this injury better. They told me when it first happened that it would take three-and-a-half or four weeks, and that's what it seems to be. I'm not coming back until I'm healthy."

Also, from Gary Dzen of the Globe:

Just talked to Leon. Says he hopes to start practicing in two weeks, which is the last week of the regular season.

So the news isn't great. I'd say the second round of the playoffs looks much safer, though he could return earlier.

Also also, Dickerson reported during tonight's game that Leon said that the knee was "100 times" better this week than last week, and that he was hoping to return a few games before the playoffs.  Also said that Leon was aiming to return at 100%, not coming back at a 60-70% level.  If both of those things are true simultaneously, great.  Also a possibility that Dickerson misunderstood and Leon is hoping to be able to return to practice a few games before the playoffs -- which is still good news, all things considered.
