Key Matchups
  vs
Paul Pierce vs Gerald Wallace
Gerald Wallace always seems to have his best games against the Celtics.  Paul Pierce has been playing well lately but will need to play strong defense against Wallace to keep him from taking over.

  vs
Rajon Rondo vs Raymond Felton
Rondo has been playing on sore ankles, but has still been very aggressive.  If he continues his aggressive play in this game, he will cause a lot of problems for Felton.

Honorable Mention
Kendrick Perkins vs Emeka Okafor
This should be a battle inside between these two centers with Perk having a strength advantage but Okafor having a quickness advantage.

Team Connections:

Nazr Mohammed and Rajon Rondo are all former KY Wildcats
Emeka Okafor and Ray Allen are former UConn Huskies
Eddie House was a member of the inaugural Bobcats team in 2004-05
DeSagana Diop and Rajon Rondo both attended Oak Hill Academy
Juwan Howard played for Doc in Orlando in '03-04

Game Notes
The Bobcats are one of those young and athletic teams that always seem to give the Celtics problems.  The Celtics won the series last season 3-1, but had to fight for every win.  This season the series is tied 1-1.  The Celtics have never lost a series to the Bobcats since they came into the league in the 2004-05 season.

In November, the Celtics won a close game in Charlotte by just 5 points.  In January, also in Charlotte, the Bobcats beat the Celtics 114-106 in overtime.  With all the injuries, this could be a tough game for the Celtics.  They will have to take it very seriously and play hard or they will be in danger of losing their first series to the Bobcats.

The Bobcats have several things going for them that the Celtics need to recognize.  For one, they are coached by Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown who will have his team playing hard.  And, second, they are in 9th place in the east, just 2 games out of the playoffs and are playing to move up to try to make the playoffs for the first time in their team's history.

The Bobcats are 12-23 on the road while the Celtics are 30-6 at home.  The Celtics have been off since their Sunday win over the Thunder while the Bobcats are playing in the second of back to back games, having beat the Lakers by 10 at home the night before.  Let's hope that the Lakers game wore them down and they come into this one tired.  But, they are young and shouldn't be affected all that much by the back to back games.

Keys to the Game
Be Aggressive - The Celtics can't be passive against this team.  They have to be the aggressors in going after loose balls, rebounds and taking the ball to the basket.

Limit Turnovers - The Bobcats are a running team and very athletic and will make the Celtics pay if they turn the ball over.  All season, turnovers have been a problem for the Celtics and they need to work on cutting them down before the post season.

Defense -  The Celtics must put a priority on maintaining their defensive intensity from start to finish.  Defense wins games and championships.

X-Factor
Bench Play
Both Mikki Moore and Stephon Marbury have been starting to fit in with this team in recent games.  They have to continue their improvement and have to contribute with all the injuries to this team.  Eddie House has to continue his hot shooting off the bench to give the second unit a scoring punch.

This is one of those teams that gives us absolute fits and it drives me crazy.

I'm expecting a tough one but I think the C's pull it out in the end.

I also expect Gerald Wallace to drop 25-30 points. Guy loves playing the C's.

Wow this thread is early and I love it.

Anyway, I agree with your assessment of the Bobcats.  What worries me is that they seem to be getting better game by game and they already gave us headaches.

Yes, but the Bobcats are playing the Lakers the night before, and the Lakers lost at Atlanta, so the Cats should be very tired.  NOOOOOOOO reason why this should be close.

Reserves
Vladimir Radmonovic HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... sorry
Alexis Ajinca- The French never were valued for their defense.
Nazr Mohammed- Can we still get him? To fill PJ Brown's role? Or be the backup PG?
Sean Singletary- Just keep shooting, just keep shooting, just keep shooting
Juwan Howard- This guy was old 12 years ago
Sean May- 2008 graduate of the Vin Baker School of Conditioning... David Wells was his personal trainer
DJ Augustin- Wait, I thought this guy was still on Texas. He's why I picked Texas in the bracket! What the HELL!
DeSagana (I have to take a) Diop
Jacques Cartier Martin
Don't Ask, Dontell Jefferson

Injuries
None... YET!

Key Matchups
  vs
Paul Pierce vs Gerald Wallace
Look for Pierce to employ the Harding technique on Wallace if he inexplicably goes off for a ton of stupid points like he always does against the Cs. He's the Frank Catalanotto of basketball. I hate that guy.

  vs
Rajon Rondo vs Raymond Felton
Remember when Raymond Felton used to be good? Man that was fun. I liked those UNC teams. They grow up so fast.

Honorable Mention
Kendrick Perkins vs Emeka Okafor
Perk's screwed. Okafor is simply going to out think poor Kendrick, as Okafor graduated early. Seriously, he did. On thoughts alone, Perk will foul out in ten minutes and be replaced by the much more disciplined liberal filmmaker Mikki Moore.

Team Connections:

Nazr Mohammed and Rajon Rondo are all former KY Wildcats LIKE ANTOINE!

Emeka Okafor (wicked smaht) and Ray Allen are former UConn Huskies... Isn't that where Donny Marshall went? No seriously, can someone help me out there?

Eddie House was a member of the inaugural Bobcats team in 2004-05...Put that on your mantle Eddie!

DeSagana Diop and Rajon Rondo both attended Oak Hill Academy, where they were continually amazed fellow Oak Hill alum Mark Blount ever dribbled a ball not off his toe.

Juwan Howard played for the Geico Caveman in Orlando in '03-04

Game Notes
It's become evident that Michael Jordan just won his position on this team in some drunk card game, and hasn't gotten around to betting them away yet. Just send them to Europe already. Berlin Bobcats? Birmingham Bobcats? Barcelona? hmm...

Until then, there's a game to play tonight. Could be interesting. Probably won't be.

Keys to the Game
Sit Rondo - Marbury is clearly the point guard of the future for this team. I just wish he wouldn't pass as much. Don't be so unselfish, Starbury!

Rush KG Back - The Bobcats are obviously one of the worst teams in the league. This means we absolutely MUST win this game to keep up appearances. Bring back Garnett for at least 45 of the 48 minutes. Overtime should not be an issue if we ride the Big Ticket and his knee to victory!

Defense -  Who needs it? I mean really, name one NBA team that has ever won a title with defense. Just outscore everyone. It's a simple game, really.

X-Factor
Bench Play
Apparently Mikki Moore can tie his shoelaces. It's a start.

Not looking forward to the Bobcats being their usual pesky selves especially with them in the playoff hunt. Praying for health, a win, and solid play from Marbs and Moore in this game. Go Celtics!
TP for the game thread. Always get me excited for the next game.
Also NBA is giving free league pass broadband access tomorrow for anyone interested.
