  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
It's a start. We'll see.

But I already know you'll all just be saying on Sunday "It's the Thunder" if Marbury does well then, too.  ::)

Eh...  I don't think people are being overly negative when they ask a player to have more than one decent game before saying he's turned a corner.

Starbury had shot 13-for-55 in March prior to tonight's game.  This could be the start of something good, or it could be just a repeat of his first night in a Celtics uniform, when he went 4-for-6 (the only other game this year that he's shot above 45%).

Quite true. This thread reminds me of the numerous Internet attempts to annoint Gerald Green the Einstein of Hoops after one of the rare games when he didn't mentally implode on the floor.

He was progressing!  If only Danny didn't get trigger-happy and package him away for that old guy...

Guffawwwwww. Never let it be said that Internet fans don't rush to judgment.

Since Minny was getting Gerald for KG, I never understood why we had to throw in Big Al.  :P

Side note: possibly the happiest 20 mins of my sports fandom, was when Jeff posted that Big Al wasn't involved in the KG trade.

What really kinda p---ed me off though was when Marbury was wide open and asking for the ball, the team kept passing it to BBD who kept missing (though he did get HOTTTTTTT, don't get me wrong). If the team had gotten the ball more and if Marbury hadn't hesitated, he could have easily put up another couple tre's.

If McHale really wanted a job post Minny, that would have been the smart thing to do. I wonder if we had ROY Brandon Roy and expiring contract one yr later Raef to trade instead of Telfair and Ratliff, if we could of gotten KG without using Big Al. Considering what teams are getting for all-stars the past couple yrs, you'd think Brandon Roy, Gomes, two firsts (including returning a valuable Minny first), Gerald (at the time...) and whatever u could get for Raef a yr later (Amare, Richard Jefferson, Jamison all were rumored) would be enough.

Maybe if Al had stuck around he'd have been forced to learn defense by this bunch. It's an interesting idea - I remain disappointed by his lack of interest in defending.

I have a feeling that if we landed Brandon Roy and still bought Rajon Rondos pick from Phoenix, and put those two with Al Jefferson, Danny never trades for KG.  In fact, I think its more likely that in this scenario that if Paul Pierce was to ever play with KG it would have been b/c we traded him to Minnesota.

I know a bunch of Celtics fans doubted Marbury's skills  and thought he would never improve...but guess what? Seems like he's returned.

He seems to be improving A LOT. For those of you watching the Celts @ ATL game, Marbury is a KILLER. 3 3's so far, and his defense is ON POINT. I'm convinced that he's only going to get better come Playoffs. Ol' boy Danny sure did a good job picking up Marbury. Thoughts on this?

Starbury was certainly tickling the net last night with his 3-ball, but he's hardly "returned". He really needs to stay focused on the defensive end. His P&R defense still needs work and I think he needs to communicate with his teammates more. I mean, we always hear Rondo yelling at people either for the outlet pass or directing traffic, and we don't really hear a lot of barking from Stephon.

Marbury doesn't need to hit shots to help this team wim. He needs to make plays. If he scores twelve points a game for the rest of the season, that will be gravy for the Celtics. He needs to make the extra pass, play tough defense, get his legs under him, and get comfortable. Anyone who is criticizing Marbury because he's not scoring the rock doesn't understand what the C's need.

Exactly - the premise of this thread sux all-around...Marbury will score the ball eventually - what he HAS been doing better and better is running the offense and setting people up - in the first half last night he could have had 5-6 assists easily - he found Walker, Moore, and Ray for quality shot attempts that were missed in some way shape or form.

Having a PG who can create 8-9 high-percentage shot ops for teammates is worth a ton to this team when Rondo is not on the floor - he's doing that.

It's a shame I can't find that buzzer beating 3 at the end of the half on youtube from Mar. That was a punch to the hawks' beak that shot ahahahahaha.

So Marbury didn't really get hot today, though he did make that pretty awesome fadeaway.

Mikki Moore was the one that really impressed me today, at a season (at least in the Celtics) of 11 points, matching that of Marbury. Very, very impressive, indeed.  8)

7 assists in 21 minutes is pretty darn impressive to me. Last year we would have loved to have had one PG that could give us 7 assists in a game. Tonight, we had two. 19 total assists from the PG position on a team designed to be run through the point. I love it.

As much as I think Marbury was brought in to be a scorer for this bench, ultimately his best role might be to drop dimes to our extremely confident, for the moment, undersized power forwards, Baby and Leon, and Eddie on the perimeter.

Marbury is improving.  Even if he's not scoring he still benefits the team, because he allows House to play without the ball and get wide open shots.

Yeah, don't shoot those shots at the buzzer.  Run the offense.  ::)

As long as he stays on this up-swing in fitting into a role, the Celtics (and fans) will be happy.

I don't know about Starbury but I was quite pleased to see Goodbackupbury the last couple games.  I really liked how he played last night.
