I dont think last nights game means hes "returned"
He took and hit 3 wide open 3's and got to the basket once....big deal, next game he could and probably will do nothing

I think it is a big deal for a guy who is supposed to have an big impact and one of the keys to winning another 'ship.  Yes he is one of the keys.  With KG limping around and the improvement in the Cavs, the C's are going to need something extra and Marbury has the talent to provide it.

Well, he looked good for one game.  But most nights he will be 1 for 4 or 1 for 5 shooting from that range, not 3 for 3. As for the play where he got to the rim, it was against Bibby.  Enough said.

His defense was adequate, helped by the fact that the Altanta guards did not play well.  Joe Johnson appeared to sleepwalk through most of the game while watching Josh Smith make mistake after mistake.

I really couldn't care less if he made a few 3's.  That's hit or miss and we know that throughout his career he has not been an above average 3pt shooter, and he's not going to become one now.  Better off to look at his all around game and if he's getting to rim and making good passses.

Marbury doesn't need to hit shots to help this team wim. He needs to make plays. If he scores twelve points a game for the rest of the season, that will be gravy for the Celtics. He needs to make the extra pass, play tough defense, get his legs under him, and get comfortable. Anyone who is criticizing Marbury because he's not scoring the rock doesn't understand what the C's need.

lol Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.n you guys are negative. can't believe 75% of the people in this thread are trying to say that Marbury scoring is a fluke and he'll just go back to sucking next game. Can we cut a guy who's missed the better part of the last 2 seasons a little slack and assume that he's going to hit his stride pretty soon here?

You misread what people said. They were just saying that 1 good game is not enough to assume he's turned the corner.

Way to be an optimist.   ;D

I was there last night and he did look better to me.

Now Mikki Moore, he was getting shoved around like a rag doll.  It was even more obvious in person.

Calm down buddy.....making 3 shots hardly redeems him.

Lets see if he can keep it up for.....lets say 10 games.

Then we can "Maybe" start talking about the return of Starbury.

Or maybe you just don't know what you're talking about? I love Marbury and love Danny Ainge for signing him. A tommy point to the original poster of this article. You know people who criticize our players because of ignorant pre-conceived notions really tick me off.

I don't see why 3 3-pointers is a sign of anything. That isn't even Marbury's game. If he is getting a lot of pull ups and getting to the rim, then I will be happy. Launching open 3's? Sometimes you get hot.

if Mikki Moore hit 3 open three's you'd have a point, he'd go pack to being mediocre. If Steph was smarter and stayed on the TWolves him and KG could have won championships, and he would most likely be looked at as a better basketball player... maybe even hall of famer. Therefore i have no reason to beleive that this is the beginning of the Starbury.

  • There can only be one.
A lot of you are forgetting...this is Stephon Marbury we're talking about. A dude who hasn't even played in about a year. It's just amazing to me that he has shaken off a little of his rust and is getting hotter in 10+ games, unlike crappy Mikki Moore here who has actually been playing. Off topic, but I honestly don't know what was going out in Danny's head when he picked up Mikki Moore. I would be WAY happier with Joe Smith on the team, and there would also be 3 former Wolves, my previous favorite team.  :)

It's a start. We'll see.

But I already know you'll all just be saying on Sunday "It's the Thunder" if Marbury does well then, too.  ::)

Eh...  I don't think people are being overly negative when they ask a player to have more than one decent game before saying he's turned a corner.

Starbury had shot 13-for-55 in March prior to tonight's game.  This could be the start of something good, or it could be just a repeat of his first night in a Celtics uniform, when he went 4-for-6 (the only other game this year that he's shot above 45%).

Quite true. This thread reminds me of the numerous Internet attempts to annoint Gerald Green the Einstein of Hoops after one of the rare games when he didn't mentally implode on the floor.

He was progressing!  If only Danny didn't get trigger-happy and package him away for that old guy...

You mean the profane bald-headed fella who never plays?

Guffawwwwww. Never let it be said that Internet fans don't rush to judgment.

Well I mean this may sound completely dumb, but guys who make shots seem to have an easier time making more shots. Guys who are cold for a prolonged period seem to stay cold. Then they get hot and stay hot..not a statistical summation just an idea.

If this means he feels like he's able to hit shots in limited mins, I love it.

like that is always lethal." - Evan 'The God' Turner

Since Minny was getting Gerald for KG, I never understood why we had to throw in Big Al.  :P
