ATLANTA -- Kevin Garnett will not play tonight against the Hawks, with Glen Davis his replacement in the starting lineup. Rajon Rondo will start for the Celtics tonight at point guard.

More to come.

Now I'm just waiting for the news that Rondo won't play either, but something tells me that makes too much sense. ::)

I mean, what's the point of either of them playing if they're still banged up? Accept the #3 seed, and just get healthy for the playoffs. It doesn't even matter what seed anyone thinks the C's need, anymore. If they're not healthy, they'll lose at home or the road, regardless. It's that simple.

Im not liking this. I was confident a week ago that we would be healthy come playoffs and get another title. But I am starting to have concerns and am less confident. This sucks, if we are healthy, we steamroll through. It is going to leave me with an eternal sick feeling if we dont get the chance this yeat because we were too injured to compete. >:(

I just heard that on Sports Tonight. Hope things don't get worse for the Big Ticket :-\

Apparently Rondo said he feels like he's 45 with the way his ankles are. I don't understand why he's playing with two sprained ankles. Shouldn't they be resting him, too, so that the C's will be (potentially) all set for the playoffs?

Not to mention all of the minutes Paul has been playing, as of late. He clearly needs a rest, as well.

Despite people on CB trying to reassure otherwise, when I saw that KG missed shout-around today, I knew something was amiss.

I'm not gloom and doom (yet), but I think we have to be real and acknowledge that KG isn't simply coming back slowly for precautionary reasons - he's still hurt. Will he be able to get healthy enough for the playoffs? That's the elephant-in-the-room question.

Gary Tanguay just speculating that KG will be "shut down" for the season. Didn't offer any source, of course.

Now he asks whether they should rest KG in the first round. I hope he doesn't know something we don't.

I hope KG will be OK for the playoffs and this is just a temporary setback .
Sit Rondo please. If he feels 45% how low must he go to before he doesn't play? I can't figure out who's dropping the ball here. Whoever is supposed to be the back up guard for the playoffs needs to start tonight and use the playing time to work through their problems in the little time left. I don't want to see Rondo playing on two hurt ankles just because of question marks on the PGs on the bench.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

After his injury they just happened to mention it was something that he had been struggling with for weeks.  We hadn't really heard anything about it, though.  This team seems to keep injury information pretty "hush hush".  I'm convinced its more serious than they want to say.

Darn

Im not too worried about Rondo, sprains can heal realatively fast. I know I used to be awalking ankle sprain in my teens.

He meant regular season. Then when they came back from the break, he started babbling about keeping him out of the first round if we face Miami or some other chump team.

looking at the latest globe blurb it sounds like Doc is just going day to day with this...says he is sore but it isn't a big thing...don't know if i really believe that though

Yeah, it's scary in my opinion. If KG's injury is worse than what was announced first, then I hope the organization will say it. Seeing Doc repeating that KG is fine but that he needs a little more rest is more scarying than being really fixed about the gravity of his injury... we are too much prone to speculate for the worse in this case.

I'd like to see Rondo sit for this game but obviously it's not going to happen.

As a guy who spends a lot of money every year for season tickets, it angers me that the Celtics are not being straight about the injuries on this team. In my opinion they were not up front about Powe's injury, and I now believe they are hiding something about Garnett. I spend thousands of dollars a year, and in my opinion, I and other fans deserve the truth about injuries.
