With the rumor going that Phoenix will take the ETO on Nash's contract.  What are the odds he ends up on the Celtics?  He's clearly lost a step, but is still a two time MVP and a great player.  Imagine him and Rondo being in the same backcourt (as was supposed to happen in Phoenix) except in reverse order with him backing up Rondo.

1) Could we afford him?

2) You think he'd come here as a backup?

I think he would because he is in the twilight of his career and wants to win a title, and he needs less minutes and should want to play less with the wear and tear he's taken being Phoenix's ONLY real option at PG for what seems like forever.  Its early for this convo, but still I'd like to hear the board's thoughts.

I'd obviously take him, but he's still good enough to start on a contender. Maybe in a couple yrs it would be a more realistic option.

If Phoenix takes the ETO, I'd say Nash would go play D'Antoni ball in New York.

Perhaps a reunion with Dirk in Dallas, if Kidd were to relocate.

I think Nash will start somewhere else, and get paid.

Obviously it would be sweet to add him to our team, but as usually my top FA concerns this summer are getting a quality 5 and 3.

  • TRANSFORMATION INTO CHAMPION COMPLETE!!!
Supposedly during all the trade talks coming out of Phoenix prior to the deadline, Nash was the only player that was unavailable for trade. If they thought that highly of him a month ago, there's no way they let him walk.

Between the paycut and relegation to the bench, I can't imagine he'd come here now.

Plus, would it really be that rewarding for an MVP like him to come here and play limited minutes to get that elusive championship?  It's one thing for a guy like P.J. Brown to do that, but P.J. isn't going to the Hall of Fame.  Nash on the other hand really doesn't enhance his legacy by latching onto the C's for a year, playing 15-20 minutes a night on the way to a title.
