Who knows about Semih Erden?  I've never seen him play.  They say he has talent but lacks motivation.  I guess that makes him the Turkish Patrick O'Bryant, although I would not expect a Euro big to have O'Bryant's post game.

As for the others, BBD and Powe have both played themselves out of Boston unless Ainge wants to fork over 4 million a year to one of them, and I doubt if Ainge will.

Next year it's going to be the big three and a bunch of retreads.  Now if one of those retreads happens to be a player like Rasheed Wallace, they could be pretty good.

At the moment, I think Pruitt is the weakest player in our roster.

Giddens?

No, Pruitt.

Ok, why?

Because I think JR is better, it's that simple. Also, as long as House is here, I'd rather have a real point guard than him.

With that said, the Celtics should pick up their team option for him. He adds cheap depth, and who knows... there's still a chance that he asserts himself in the game properly.

We'll see.

JR Giddens is two years older and can't play the point.  Giddens can't shoot either.

Myabe Giddens might be worth something with regular minutes, as sort of a Bruce Bowen type.  But that will never happen under Rivers.

You realize that they spent months trying to trade Giddens, and there were no takers. I expect him to be out of the league when his three years are up.

Of course I wasn't thinking JR as the point. Just saying that Pruitt real role as long as House is with us is to play the point, and that being the case I rather have someone else playing it.

Giddens is a 2/3 player and I think he can have a good midrange game to complement his slashing abilities, interior passing, play around the rim, and rebounding. And he can certainly hit the 3, but needs to improve in this regard... but not a requisite.

That they wanted to trade Giddens and there were no takers tells me nothing. It might just well be that Ainge has a big price tag on him.

How do you know that won't happen under Rivers?  There are plenty of guys who didn't see the floor their rookie year, but as they learned the system and matured, became key players.

if it is true that Ray Allen and Rondo are out for tonight's game, I say start Pruitt (along with Eddie) and let Pruitt try to cover Wade.  Marbury or House aren't going to cover him so the only other option would be to have Walker or Giddens try to cover him (with Starb or House at the point).  I think Pruitt is our best bet (as frieghtening as that is).

Powe comes to mind, as he was completely lost as a rookie (and part of his second year), and didn't see the floor until they were in all-out tank mode.  Perkins (although he was in his second year when Doc took over) made a huge jump in minutes in his second year with under Doc.

I know there were injuries involved, but Delonte went from being a bit player most of his rookie year, who was at the end of the bench for a while, to a starter his second year.

Ryan Gomes didn't start off his Celtics carreer well, and looked completely lost, but then found his way to the court after a prolonged stint on the bench, and was a completely different player.

They are not exactly the same as Giddens, but there were also very different situations when most of them were starting out, which allowed them to play earlier, due to the lack of competition on the roster.

In general, Doc has shown that he will not play young guys when they are struggling with the system, unless he absolutely has to.  But he has also shown that is not the kiss of death, and even though some might pick it up slower, they can still get there.

Powe, DWest and Gomes all got significant minutes in their rookie years, although not right away.  We're starting to see Bill Walker get a few minutes too, although that will end as soon as KG, BBD and Powe get back healthy.

Rivers will ride Pierce and Ray Allen until they drop.
