I still have hope for Pruitt to become a solid rotation player in this league, be it with the Celtics or another team.  I just don't feel he'd much of a help to us in the playoffs this year.  He still doesn't have that aggressiveness that he needs on the offensive end.  And while he's a good defender, the fact that the pathetic referees don't know who he is makes him a liability, because they call him for every little thing.

He needs to go to some crappy NBA team and just get to play through his mistakes and get some  confidence in himself. On a championship squad everything is so magnified. He also needs to be a little more hard nosed. The one time he showed some scrap he got hit with a foul running up the floor after a no call.
exactly
I feel we should keep him though on cost issues, knows the system etc.  I'll be in shock if marbury is here next year.  Eddie I love but his game is hustle and jack that nice shot of his.  Eddie serves a great purpose here since he knows his job and does it nicely but I can see him being in a trade deal (pruitt also)
I think pruitt is an nba player which I've seen some think not (?).  He has a really nice jumper (ray allen like) and plays nice d.  He needs confidence!
I'd say he is not an alpha dog guy like Rondo from day 1, kg, pp etc.

He seems like he could be an Antonio Daniels type player.  He does have some excellent tools but he's never quite comfortable.  He could go either way.  I'd be a lot more confident in him if he seemed confident in himself.  He could end up as an Antonio Daniels/Keon Dooling type, or he could never quite get it like Orien Greene.

I wonder if Gabe would be an all around more confident player if the refs had given him the benefit of the doubt a few times.  He has made a lot of great momentum changing defensive plays only to have them taken away by the refs.

I think Pruitt has a chance to stick around next year, but based on the lack of confidence Doc still has in him, my guess is he won't be back.

Personally, I would love to see them let him go, and try to get a late first rounder/early second rounder to try to steal Ty Lawson or Nick Calathes...both of whom I think will be absolute steals.

At the moment, I think Pruitt is the weakest player in our roster.

In His defense, he is 22 and it may take him a while to develop that swagger. Sometimes it is hard to come out of your shell when you are on a championship team with a lot of strong personalities. Players have shown that they can develop swagger.

The swagger argument was the knock on Joe Johnson when he was here, too. Don't read into that like I am saying he is as good as  JJ, but it is a good example for a guy finding his inner confidence after a few years in the league.

His status on the team will obviously be decided by the free agent market (or lack thereof). In all likelihood, the Celtics value him higher than other teams do and will sign him to the min. Are there decent points out there that will be free agents that will sign for the minimum? I don't know yet.

not after the last two games i wouldn't. He played well friday and was one of only 4 celtics players with a pulse sunday.

Its a neck and neck race between JR and pruitt for most irrealvent uniform filler at this point.

While I agree he lacks confidence/swagger on the offensive end, I would think it's pretty difficult playing point with the likes of Garnett, Ray and Pierce. I think the more he plays the more his confidence will grow. Right now he seems content handing the ball off and heading into the corner.

That being said, I do see him sticking around because I looks like a better than average defender, which is what this team is built on. He has some height at that position and moves pretty well. He stays with some pretty fast poing guards, and other than getting called for some questionable fouls, looks pretty good out there.

While agree it can be intimidating playing with 3 hall of famers, if he can't get comfortable after 2 years, you need to at least start to wonder whether he just doesn't have "it".  I have a feeling Danny will be looking at this closely, and if he doesn't feel that Pruitt has progressed enough, he will be replacing him with either a rookie, or a maybe a more experienced vet minimum guy.

Just to be fair, he did spend most of last year in the D-league, so he really wasn't around that much. He also didn't get any PT earlier this year, as Doc was using House as back up point. You are right that at some point you have to wonder if he has "it" I just think he will at least get one more year to show if he does. I also base that on the fact that he looks like he can contribute on the defensive end right now.

I think the fact that He's a bigger cap hit than JR next year and the celtics can save some money by cutting him loose may hurt his chances of green in 10.

Add to that the bad PR he just got, and I think he's got an uphill battle to stay here.

personaly, i have mixed feelings. I think he's a good kid, and that the DWI is probley a one time being stupid thing. and i agree he hasen't gotten burn to see what he can do.

But at some point, with eddie house just voted on by players as one fo the worst dribblers in the NBA, don't you have to wonder why gabe couldn't at least play himself into the discussion of backup point? The celtics brass were very high on his chances pre season (danny espically) and he still can't earn himself a shot. Now, with steph here, that boat has sailed for this year, but still, makes you wonder.

No, Pruitt.
