It's amazing that we're such a vastly superior team, that will beat the Magic with or without HCA so easily, and yet we're talking about the possibility they end the regular season with a better record.
Since when the gap is so wide? It's not like we've been dominating them in reg. season games in the last 2 years...
While regular season games don't mean a whole lot once the playoffs start, since you brought it up, I'd say a 19 point win at home, a 10 point win on the road, and a narrow defeat without two starters and 2 other rotation players is pretty good. And the Pistons showed the world last year that the Magic just aren't built for the playoffs.
I'm not saying it's set in stone that we'd wipe the floor with them in the playoffs, but I feel good about our chances.
So, when they beat us, we were without 2 starters and 2 other rotation players. Yet, it's not even mentioned that in one of our wins, they were also missing 2 starters plus some rotation players - they only played 7 men the entire game, IIRC. That's an extremely biased way of telling the story. Plus, how well did we do against them last season? And why aren't the Magic built for the playoffs, because they lost a series to the Pistons? That was last season, things are always changing. By that reasoning, the Chuck Daly Pistons would never had won a title; ditto for the MJ Bulls; etc.
Their defense is as good as anyone, they play the kind of offence that gives us troubles, with a perimeter 4 and good shooters all around. They're a very good team, well-coached on both sides, lead by a fantastic player and with decent depth.
I agree we'd be favourites, but the idea that the C's, or any other NBA team, would easily beat Orlando is a product of sheer arrogance.
