I'm wondering who is ready to go out on a limb say it?

When Oden suffered a chipped kneecap on Feb. 12 against the Warriors, Blazers team doctor Don Roberts wrote in an email that the rookie center could be sidelined from seven days up to six weeks

Premature but I don't like the way the kid's career has started.

I thought Greg Oden is off to an impressive start. Not as good as I had of hoped, but still very good.

Sam Bowie was actually pretty decent, certainly as good or better than Oden during his rookie year. The only reason he was a bust was because MJ was drafted right after him. Although Durant is darn good, he ain't no MJ (yet).

He's not a bust yet, but I think the blazers are definitely regretting picking Oden over Durant.
do it

The 3 year rule sounds good to me. Lets give him one more year before dropping the bust label on him.

When he plays he is still very effective, even though he is raw.

nope

He's averaging 9 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks in 23 minutes with 57% shooting.

He just turned 21... hasn't been fully healthy.  It takes players a lot of time to return to proper form after microfracture surgery.  A lot of his supposed potential was based on his explosiveness, lift and athleticism.  Instead he gained too much upper body strength/weight and is trying to adjust to his new body, adjust to the NBA game after only playing a handful of College games, adjust to returning to basketball after being injured for a year... etc.

Dwight Howard as a rookie:  12 points, 10 rebounds, 1.7 blocks in 33 minutes with 52% shooting

Al Jefferson as a rookie:  6.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, .8 blocks in 15 minutes on 53% shooting

Too soon to call him a bust.  That's silly.

I think thats what people like me are starting to question as a number one draft pick, not his production. Will he ever be healthy? your going on 3 years now of constant, diffrenet injuries From the hand in college to the knee cap now, one of which was a major operation to his knee.

There were also whispers that he was very injury prone in H.S. what good is he as a #1 when he can't stay on the floor?

i dont think he is a bust just yet.  i think he is injury prone and has potential to be a bust.  however, he hasnt even had a season of playing under his belt, so it is too early to say

When next season begins he will be 21 years old and have a year's worth of experience under his belt. Let's not forget, this is his rookie season after all. 9 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 1.2BPG with a FG% of 57% and a PER of 17.78 in only 22 MPG for a 20 year old rookie is [dang] good.

In comparison, Michael Beasley, who had one of the most impressive freshman years ever in NCAA basketball and is 20 years old is averaging 13.5 PPG, 5 RPG and a 46% FG% and a PER of 16.27 in 24 MPG. Is Beasley a bust? He was one of the most dominant rebounding and scoring freshman in NCAA ever and his stats aren't exactly impressive.

Oden is young and had some unlucky injuries. He could bust out big time next year with  10/10/2.3/57% set of numbers next year. Remember, where Oden was always considered to excel was on defense and the boards. It was always acknowledged that his offensive abilities were well behind the curve.
