I know its glorified spring training, but i am enjoying the World baseball classic, more so this year that the U.S team seems p---ed off that they were the laughing stock of the last one and seem to be taking it seriously and having fun, youk is killing the ball right now.

this made me laugh this morning, as i couldnt stay up for the whole thing so was suprised this morning.

It's been exciting.

I think they should do it after the season rather then before, and make the games more accessible to the public.

the power of The dutch's one major leaguer, a utility infielder for baltimore, was clearly to much for them to overcome. not once, but twice.

Also, they had to play in wooden shoes.

2 major leaguers.  how could you forget about the dominating Sidney Ponson

thats right, i forgot about him. and they passed on a 3rd, noted superstar andrew jones.

how fast has jones fallen BTW? remeber when we all thought he would be great? now he can't get tapped for his national team over some dude ive never heard of to play CF or DH.

It has been really exciting.....

My Puerto Rico Team is playing great and the USA is dominating....

Dominican Team had $83M of MLB players and lost twice to Netherlands...LOL!!!!!

But lets not forget Japan and Korea, they are very strong....as is Cuba.

This weekend should be great. The Miami Round 2 Pool will be USA, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, & Netherlands(cinderella team).....

I like watching the Cubans.  Some amazing talent on that team that will likely never see MLB.  it's a shame.

I think it's been great thus far.  Sure, every team doesn't boast a lineup of MLB stars like the Dominicans did, but that's what makes it interesting.  David vs. Goliath.  The Netherlands taking down the D.R. twice!

I also enjoy watching the contrasting styles.  Power from Venezuela, fundamentals and defense from Japan and South Korea and pure heart and love of the game from the Cubans.  I'm excited to see what happens over the next couple of weeks.

I'm glad that the DR lost and Papi can get back with the team.

How about Youuuuuuuuk being hot early in the season.  Some people think his numbers are going to drop off a bit this year, count me out of that crowd.  He's going to be up for the MVP award by the end of the season again.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

This was a great upset.  Up until last month, the Netherlands idea of a base hit came from a bong.
