EDIT: also, what do you mean the league didn't look at ariza's foul? the reviewed it, and actually downgraded it from a flagrant 2 yesterday. It was the right call, toss him then to preserve order, change to correct call (flagrant one) later.
Did they? I didn't see where they downgraded it. I know they reviewed it, but I thought they left the Flagrant 2 intact (making this foul, in the eyes of the NBA, worse than the BBD foul).
But after reviewing film, NBA Vice President Stu Jackson decided that the tough play did not warrant any discipline beyond the Flagrant 2 foul and automatic ejection administered Monday night.

but they did in fact review it and determine no additional disipline was needed, so no vast distraction on odom's part was used by the league to sweep some justified x amount of games suspension for ariza under the rug, as the original post implied.
