I've gone through the commissioners tools, and I cannot find any way to put players who are now listed as free agents back on the waiver wire.

Meanwhile, we have about about 20 players who are still on waivers, but while we are in roster lockdown, no one can submit waiver claims on them.

What do you guys want to do: lift the lockdown, and allow a FA free-for-all at an appointed time, or leave the lockdown in place until the waiver period ends?

A third option could be to leave the rosters locked, while doing waivers "manually".  Members could submit waiver claims to Lucky via PM -- either his normal account or a special one -- and we could award players based on that.  Maybe unlock rosters, but void any free agent transactions made.  This allows people to submit bids on most of the coveted free agents.  After that, by a specified deadline, people could submit waiver claims on unsigned free agents.

It's a pain in the butt, and it slows things down, but it might be the fairest way if yahoo is having issues.

This is probably not a big deal since all current FA didn't have claims on them, aka The Land of Misfit Toys.

I would suggest lifting the lockdown and waiting out the messed up waiver period. It will most likely go through some time tonight or tomorrow. This would allow new claims to be put in on current waiver claimed players.

As for the FAs, I don't think it's a big deal. The top players all have claims. The current FAs are scrubs.

Roy beat me to the suggestion of an offline waiver system.

However I think we'd have to take the whole thing offline, right?

I'm not 100% how the waiver system works but wouldn't it be that (for example) if I have the #3 claim and I put in claims for players A, B and C all waiving Al Jefferson, that if players A & B get calimed b the teams with highr waiver priorities I'd get player c? I assumed this is how it works but maybe not.

In any case, Lucky, I'm happy to lend an excel hand in conducting the offline waivers ( I can send my claims which I've already made to you before I start seeing other claims)

I do like this idea, but it would take a while to get all the managers together/organized for a waiver draft. Plus it's a lot more work for Lucky.

I am good with it if everyone else is though. We would probably have to do it in the points league to. I am assuming that league will be messed up to.

I meant just unlock all rosters now.  Reverse YH's add of JJ, and tell everybody that you will reverse any other adds unless they're off the waiver wire.  Afterward, you can void any players who were added off the free agent list, rather than waivers.

I'd disagree, although obviously some of this is out of our hands. The current mess underlines a handful of players with outstanding waiver claims to other GMs. I don't love it. And what to do if claims put in over the course of  today aren't even honored? Since we don't know exactly where we stand.

Yahoo! allows no distinction re: free agent transactions. It's all or nothing.

Shades of 2009 NBA Fantasy Draft Center... In this case, I believe there's only been the one F.A. transaction - YH's James Johnson signing. So, Roy's suggestion could work. Though it'd certainly be more work intensive.

EDIT - What Roy said.

& P.S. I'd be willing to help with an offline waiver draft if it comes to that. But I'm also fine with a scrum too.

I can live with this.

I'll lift the lock, and reverse all FA pickups.

[Edit: unable to reverse the James Johnson pickup, as the player is listed in a pending transaction.]

To some extent, this is academic to me, since I've put in whatever waiver claims I'm going to make.  I just think it's a tough situation for guys who hadn't put in a claim over the weekend, or who still have additional claims to make.

(It also stinks, due to nobody's fault other than yahoo's, that GMs were "clued in" to guys other GMs are after.  That's unfortunate, but I'm not sure what can be done about it.)

To me it comes down to what the intention was in terms of when the claims were to be processed --- i'm unclear b/c I, even after 3 years, can never tell what Yahoo! means by W(Oct4) ... is it the player  is on waivers THROUGH the end of Oct 4 or to the beginging of OCT 4?

If the intention was to still allow today for claims to catch those GMs that weren't on CBlog over the weekend then i think we should halt everything and do an offline Waiver draft.

If your intention was for Y! to process claims last night @ 3 am, then I'd suggest (a) doing an offline claim for those players (GMs would have to screen shot the claims they made i guess to verify they made the claim already?) and (b) setting a time-certain for the FA scrum?

But even this might be a pain --- in that GMs might want to add a FA if they miss out on a Wavier claim but won't know until after.... I think the best long-term solution woudl be an offline waiver system due on Wednesday night (which I'm happy to help with), then opening FREE AGENCY after say at a time certain on THURSDAY.

I don't see the harm in taking time to make sure we get it right since the first real games are 3 weeks off --- it's not like any of our fantasy teams are  holding fantasy training camps (or are they.... maybe that's why i missed the playoffs last year :P)

I'm in the same boat, Roy, i've put in my claims and probably won't get them. But to be fair, if Lucky intended GMs to be able to make claims today, i think they shouldn't be penalized by Yahoo!'s problems.

It's a little less academic b/c the waiver priority might very well come into play in the 2nd round of claims based on guys dropped during the 1st round, etc.

And there are guys i want to add but not at the expense of my waiver priority -- if that makes sense.

You gotta luv active managers! Claimed off of waivers this morning, hasn't even been assigned a locker, and already offered in a trade proposal.

My intent was to provide a 72-hour window from the time I uploaded rosters to allow GMs to submit waiver claims on guys they wanted.

People who were following the league thread on the blog were aware of the roster cut deadline, and the roster upload. I have to admit I'm not sympathetic if someone can't submit whatever claims they want to in that 72-hour window.

This won't affect any GMs who were on the ball and active. I say we simply let the current waiver period expire.

No, we've switched. As I recall this was discussed around the trade deadline last season.
