I'm resurrecting this thread, just to draw attention to the poll results.

Next year, waiver priority will be determined by order of finish during the regular season (in other words, reverse order of draft), and the rookie draft pool will again be restricted to those players who have *declared* for the NBA draft.

One idea I'd be in favor of is that the winner of the league and the runner-up be awarded the 20th and 19th picks, and the 1st and 2nd waiver priority.  I don't think it should be implemented for this season's draft, but for next year's, I think it would be beneficial.

If anybody wants to preliminarily discuss some trades, I'm open to moving most of the guys on my roster.  I can't see myself moving Wade, Carmelo, Boozer, or Williams, but you never know.  Everybody else (including the 13th and 33rd picks) is available.

Might also be worthwhile to discuss future rules changes?

Such as:

Roy’s suggestion to decide picks 19 and 20 based on final finish. (While still giving first waiver priority to the team with the best regular season record.)

Or deciding draft order for all playoff bound teams, i.e. picks 13 through 20, based on final finish.

Setting a weekly roster moves maximum for the post-season – I believe two moves per week was suggested. Although locking rosters for the post-season was also suggested. I’m not sure either measure is as necessary in a 20 team dynasty league as a standard 10-14 team H2H league, but it’s been thrown out there.

I still believe pretty strongly that we should expand the draft lottery, making it even odds for all teams that miss the playoffs, picks 1 through 12. Or at the very least widen the weighted lottery somehow.

Also, and this suggestion is more off the cuff and for the sake of discussion, what about eliminating the Utility spot? Two starters at each position and a 15 man roster limit that matches the NBA’s own seems a somewhat more elegant set up. It would also add some depth to the free agent pool.

Did I miss anything?

I'd be in favor of the following two rule changes:

1.  The 19th and 20th spot in the draft are given to the runner-up in the league and the league champ.  I don't think it makes sense to go by total order of playoff finish, because people don't always field full rosters in the consolation rounds, and I don't think it's necessarily fair to compel people to keep playing after their team is eliminated.

2.  I'd be in favor with no roster moves in the playoffs (much like in the real NBA), but at the very least, it should be limited to one move per week in the case of injuries, etc.  The league shouldn't be won or lost based upon cycling of role players.

I don't think any other changes need to be made, although I wouldn't be opposed to expanding the lottery to be in lock-step with the "real" NBA lottery (i.e., if the 8th place team in the real NBA wins the lottery, they do in our draft, too.)

I think rosters should be kept as they are; lots of the rosters were constructed with the utility spot in mind.

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
I agree with the idea of the champ/runner up getting spots 20/19 in the draft, like they do in the NFL. I'm also in favor of keeping the Util spot.

My team is open to trades. In the H2H league, I've got:

Mo Williams
(Cle - PG)    -    -    -
Jamal Crawford
(Atl - PG,SG)   -    -    -
Kyle Lowry
(Hou - PG,SG)    -    -    -
Quentin Richardson
(Mia - SG,SF)   -    -    -
Thaddeus Young
(Phi - SF,PF)    -    -    -
Paul Millsap
(Uta - SF,PF)    -    -    -
Lamar Odom
(LAL - SF,PF)    -    -    -
Zach Randolph
(Mem - PF,C)    -    -    -
Nenad Krstic
(OKC - PF,C)    -    -    -
Chuck Hayes
(Hou - SF,PF,C)    -    -    -
David West
(NO - PF)    -    -    -
Wilson Chandler
(NY - SG,SF,PF)    -    -    -
Leon Powe
(Cle - SF,PF)    -    -    -
Tyler Hansbrough
(Ind - SF,PF)    -    -    -
Boris Diaw
(Cha - SF,PF)
Yao Ming
(Hou - C) INJ

With Williams, Crawford, Odom, Randolph, Krstic, Diaw, and Chandler all on the forefront of the block.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

I'm in favor of awarding the 19th and 20th picks to the champ and runner up. Beyond that, I am not sure; and would need some convincing.

I think there should be some limited ability to make roster moves during the playoffs, in the event of injury. One or two a week would be more than enough.

I'm also open to expanding the lottery to all non-playoffs teams, since the odds already favor the bottom 5 teams getting the #1 overall anyways.

You'll have to make a serious compelling case to eliminate the util slot for me to consider it. If increasing talent in the free agent pool is a concern, I'd be more open to cutting a bench slot.

Phone lines are open.

fine by me

I say just the top two.

I am for:
1. Keeping the Util spot
2. Having Champ and runner-up getting 20th and 19th picks respectively
3. allowing 1 or 2 roster moves a week in playoffs
4. allowing all non playoff teams to be in the lottery.

I agree with just 1 roster move during playoffs
Runner-up get 19th pick and champ get 20th pick
Lottery for all non-playoffs teams
and really doesn't matter if we keep Ult.

By the way, I have 7 picks so if anyone want to talk trade, let me know. Also would like to package some picks with some players to move up in the draft. Thanks
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin
