This is why, while others didn't like it, I loved Shaq smacking Van Gundy down for his comments about Shaq last week.  The guy always has something to say and has no business getting into a tit for tat with a player.
tp...i agree,it shows a lack of professionalism on SVG part.

He's putting public pressure on the refs to call the game in ORL's favor. Nothing more and nothing less. It's a shrewd move, since he'll need help from the Zebras to get past CLE or BOS.

Perk plays Dwight Howard as well as anyone in the league.  He always seems to get a fair number of rebounds, but I can't remember too many times watching Howard against the C's and thinking that we just couldn't stop him (whereas you watch Howard against most other teams, he often IS clearly the most dominant player on the court).

So, Van Gundy's doing his job, doing what he can to get the refs to call a tighter game.  The ridiculousness of saying that Perk doesn't have to worry about foul calls is off the charts, since we haven't had a legitimate backup center all season (and still don't).

As much as we want to lambaste SVG, after Shaq roasted him last week, he has a point about the Celtics being allowed to play more physical than most teams.  There really is no denying that.

It's the same way Detroit was allowed to play when they had Wallace X 2.
God bless and good night!

What I don't get is admitting that your own team is a finese team.  I can't really think of any other circumstance when a head coach - in any sport - has admitted that his team doesn't like to play a physical game.  It's just...  odd.  Even teams that you KNOW play a finese games (like the Warner-era Rams teams) never would admit that.  It's like an admission; sock us in the jaw, we'll go right down!

If after beating PHO and us he was complaining that much about playing dirty, i would like to know what he will say today after losing against the Pistons. Anyway , Orlando will struggle in the play offs and he will try to find more excuses.

Does anyone really think a comment from anybody with Van Gundy in their last name deserve any consideration at all?  ;)
Celtics fan since Dave Cowens.
