I'm going to assume that Marbury's shot will come around as he shakes off the rust.  That said, I like what I'm seeing on the offensive end when he and House are on the court together.  They have a nice thing going together already.  Marbury's done a nice job of setting up Eddie for clean shots just the way he likes them. Eddie's getting the ball in stride when he's open.

I'm looking forward to seeing them continue to develop.

Very true, it's notorious there's some kind of special chemistry going on between them - they probably put that on the top of their priorities list. They can certainly make a good offensive duo. On the other side of the floor, well, that's an all different story...

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
I guess Marbury doesn't think he's a scrub anymore.  :P

Shooters, along with good catch and finish guys, are a point guards best friend. It's always been the case for Rondo, and it seems to be the same for Marbury. When you have a guy that you can count on to find the open man, and a guy who you can count on to get & hit the open shots it's bound to work out.

[/quote Yep.  I really hope Marbury improves at this end with better conditioning.  It's not just that he has to learn the system, he's just having real trouble guarding anyone. So far it hasn't mattered if he's been guarding 1's or 2's or Walter Herrman.  He reminds me of Nash in that he appears very quick with the ball and very slow on defense because he's the one reacting to the other guy.

Marbury will be good for Eddie, but i think he's going to REALLY be great for Leon, Glen, and Mikki.

I agree they looked very good together on offense. On defense I was surprised to see Starbury hounding Mo Williams all over the court (Williams scored a lot but not for lack of defensive effort on the part of Stephon).
The best part is they will only get better. Marbury is a career 33 percent three point shooter who has to hit some eventually which will free House for more open looks. Once Marbury is more comfortable he will drive more which will also free up house.

With Moore and Marbury added to BBD/Powe and House our second unit should be a force by the time the playoffs hit. Once Scal is back we can field a second unit that doesn't need to leave Pierce or Allen in the game to survive.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

I was at the NJ game, where Marbury got booed every time he touched the ball. All of the Celtics were very supportive and encouraging of Marbury that night, but Eddie especially. During free throws and time stoppages, he was always talking with Steph and encouraging him. Don't look now, but I think we have a very effective backcourt scoring duo budding. A little small, but oh well!

I agree with Redz...i never really knew how good of a passer Marbury was until he came to Boston. In the pass when he was on other teams i never ck'd his passing skills out,but he has great court vision(awareness),sees the flr well.

Same here.  Not only has he been a good passer, but he's played extremely unselfish basketball.  There were a few times last night where he was passing TOO much.
do it

Hopefully they come together.  Obviously, even if Marbury becomes Rajon Rondo on the defensive end, it's still not going to be ideal to have two sub 6-2 players on the court together.  Given that's the case, if they are to play together come playoff time, they're really going to have to make teams pay offensively, because inevitably there will be times that other teams will abuse either House or Allen with a taller player.

As someone noted above, I kind of like Marbury guarding the PG with House on the SG better than the reverse.  Though Marbury may have an inch or so on House, House is a little thicker, letting him body up bigger two-guards.  Plus, while Mo Williams arguably abused Steph a little last night on his way to 26 points, Mo also had the worst +/- on the Cavs last night, perhaps suggesting that his efforts to take advantage of Steph took the Cavs out of their usual offensive sets.

It does look like the potential for a good offensive pairing is there. Plus, Steph's passing has been good.

But ... the pairing looks awful defensively so far. They'd better score, because they're going to give up a bunch of scores.

That second unit is going to be dangerous very soon. The Cavs bench didn't stand a chance against ours and we are still implementing two new players into it. Even in the past game where the second unit still looked "off" they still held a comfortable lead and did their jobs.
True Celtic = Leon Powe

Bring back the show!!!!

On what basis do we have the right to assume this?...at all? That his shot will come back OR that he'll even shake off the rust from not playing in the NBA in over year in the amount of time that he'll be in a Celtic uniform.
Never underestimate the predictability of stupidity...
